I didn't start rating is as a great final, until the final set. The power serve makes for poor watching. Having said that, I was surprised at the consistency and speed of Federer's serve.

Both strong willed and determined, and there was little to choose between them. Just about fitness in the end.

What it does do though, is set Andy Murray's efforts into context. He had a fair old set to with Roddick.

I had a private tennis lesson on Thursday morning, and have been playing even more rubbish than usual ever since. At least I know what I'm doing wrong now, so that's 10% of the way there.

I watched that only saw one way traffic....very disappointed with the lad from Scotland, when it came to the extra gear needed at times he really came up short

I lost interest in tennis when Agassi retired. He was the only person who played the game the way I like to see it, right from the baseline. I hate big servers and serve/volley players. Its a bit like watching longball football, but sadly also as effective at times.

Tennis is a wonderful game to watch, some of the passing shots are absolutely breathtaking, improving equipment as well as player fitness is certainly bringing a new dimension to the game 8)
