However, only 2 or 3 people have jumped to the defence of boarders. Therefore I can draw the totally reliable conclusion that they are a dying breed....
They have to have comfy boots to make up for that silly hopping ;)

TowerBridge Andy wrote:Jesus christ you people need to take a look at what you are actually posting. A thread has been created to form an opinion of others regarding the decline of a snowsport and all you have done in MOAN about snowboarding like you own the mountains. To be honest you all have valid points regarding snowboarders sitting down to rest, I have never seen anyone on skis stop to rest in the middle of a run, or carve a decent run in to moguls because they are unable to control their speed correctly.
This is the problem with skiing and snowboarding, everyone seems to think they have a divine right to the mountain as if they own it. News flash you don't, so why not just enjoy your skiing experience like everyone else and stop the negativity towards other forms of sport just because you don't enjoy it/understand it.
Also regarding the images of snowboarders sat under lifts in groups. Strong possibility they are sat at the top of a park run awaiting turn. If you check parks runs today you will find those piles of people are actually weighted towards skiers.
Apologies (monday morning) rant over
oooooooooo errr

One of them spends more time on snow than most of us on here put together, and is a thoroughly decent chappy who I had the privilege to meet in Austria a few years ago and have kept in touch with since. We share a love of the snow covered mountains, and have had some banter about skiers vs boarders, but its totally good natured.
The other hasn't been on a snow holiday for several years now sadly, but is desperate to go again. If only his wife would stop breeding ;-)
Again, we enjoy good natured banter, but share the same love.
I'm surprised anyone has got upset or annoyed with this thread, as it has covered off a couple of relevant issues, and also shown how good natured the banter can be from skiers.
I've said before, seeing a good boarder in powder looks fantastic. I'd love to be able to pick it up and be good at it but I don't want to be a beginner again and go through the pain of learning from scratch. Otherwise I'd probably have a go at it and do both.........without stopping over the brow of a hill of course ;-)

This post isnt meant to annoy skiers or poke fun, becuase there is nothing like carving down at speed. I just hope that it motivates someone, at least one person, to take up baording so that they can feel that undescibable feeling of floating down the mountian on pow pow.
