Jan 2001, Jan 2007 both much much worse.
I don't think the snow is bad. (I guess I am thinking north facing areas, which is where I ski).
It will freshen up early next week.

Courage, mon amis!

Weather forecast has now changed for BG quite dramatically - turning cold on Friday with snow, colder Saturday, then snow Sunday through to Thursday. It certainly sounds a huge improvement, but I will see it when I believe it.

£50 for hotdog, chips and a drink reported from Flaine by a mate of mine this week, aling with 7,50 for a beer. France - pah.

If he paid 7.50 for a small beer then he's an idiot. As those of who go France regularly have stated many times before (though no-one chooses to listen to hard evidence) you probably CAN pay that but we DON'T. I'll be paying half that in VT in two weeks. That's a hard fact (despite the nonsense some spout about the so called "mega resorts")

We'll also have great snow.....

And great food (Raclette, Tartiflette, Fondue......)

Each to their own (I persoanlly love Austria too) but please accept that those of us who actually go to France find it no more expensive (and I think we can all agree that Switzerland is another country entirely)

As a matter of interest, what is a good price for a beer in France? I paid 8 euros for a large beer in a mountain restaurant in France last week. I thought it was a bit pricey but I still went back there the next day

Don't believe it. Sorry.
Your mate is either exaggerating or it was the total bill for a family enjoying said meal. No where have i ever paid more than 20 euro for a large burger, chips and salad.

The drink, well i find that plausible but would have to say he's a fool to pay it.
The highest price i paid in flaine, for a pint, was 6 euro.
