OK, I'm getting there slowly.
I've now directed my thoughts on either Cervinia or Selva. If anyone's been there what are your thoughts and which hotels would you recommend? Is it really cheaper getting a Bed and Breakfast when you consider all the meals you have to pay for compared with a half board hotel?
I would consider Austria if I knew the snow would be there from 21st March.
Lastly, I can actually fly with Easjet from Bristol to Turin that weekend for £66 for two people with luggage. Do you think it's worth doing this and trying to find a hotel vacancy on the internet? I would have thought it would be cheaper to organise lift passes, equipment, tuition at the resort rather than with the tour operater but there again I have to get from the airport to the resort. What do you think? I 'm beginning also to realise that my preferred hostelries are already booked!!!!

This late on I would have thought you'd get a better deal HB with one of the tour operators - I've always found Crystal overcharge on lift passes but Inghams and Neilson are pretty fair and I've always got as good as if not better price than in resort for the lift passes. I would recommend the MilkWay - Sauze D'Oulx, Sestriere, Claviere or Montgenevre.

Courmayeur - is lovely but few blues for beginners.

Sestriere lacks the charm of Sauze & not many tour operators go to Sansicario. (The three are easy enough to ski between anyway)
I dont think theres a blue in the resort, or at least hardly any. All reds. However, if you mean they SHOULD be blues judging by gradient, width and ease, you're probably right. Its not a difficult place to ski, very flattering.

I'd also not recommend the milky way late March, snow coverage is really hit and miss at the best of times.
Cervinia, for all the right reasons I think.
Selva is somewhere I want to go, but may also struggle with snow.

Well, thanks for all your help!
I tried to book Cervinia but couldn't get any flights out of Bristol. I have, however, now booked a week's holiday in the Hotel Madeleine at Obergurgl. As you know it's a high resort and hopefully will suit us perfectly! And, we'll be able to fly from Cardiff which is 10 mins away from my house in Barry. The downside being we're flying at 14.30 on the Saturday and I'll now miss the Wales v Italy rugby match. Don't bother to enquire, my wife will have a choice of people to join her at the game!!!!!!!!!

then you're going to the right place. I never would've suggested it because you wanted a reasonable price. However, if you've got a deal then you're laughing. Mid village, easy walking either direction, good restaurant (but don't know about the rooms), great for beginners. there's a couple of good late night places but it's not jumping.

Hopefully your instructor will get you over to Hochgurgl too, it's perfect for cruising which is brilliant for beginners.

If you've got any other questions let us know :D

Obergurgl is pretty. Good luck, shame about the rugby!
