DaveMac,
Sorry that you can not get more video information. Karen72, sorry if you did not get, "message",,I should have given a more comprehensive introduction. Here it is. We often forget the most important piece of skiing equipment. The "piece" that finally makes this activity what it is! That piece is YOU the skier. Your attitude,,how you take the challenge, how you take the "hurdles" in skiing, (and in life), how you take the "set backs" will make a difference in your skiing pleasure. That lecture ( the very last lecture),,,was given by a man who was going to die soon of cancer,,,yet watch him! Positive ,,inspiring, and living life to the very end to its fullest! That is how you should ski! So many skiers "sell themselves short"! All those videos say, "you have the choice to greater heights in skiing." My message to you is take the plunge,,, have the courage to believe that you can do it! There is no other message. I do not want you to join a cult or religios group! I am not recruiting new members to this new skier's cult! Davemac, since you can not get this "feed" I will try to send you a "care package" via snail mail! I can really relate to your skiing origins! In my time it was the youth hostel route! In a very large ski resort there was a nearby farm that allowed members to sleep and eat for $7!!!! You did have to clean barn and stalls at 6AM! |

Yes ski season is soon going to be here soon.
Now is the time to get ready and this post is one that is very much different from all the other posts I have done. Typically I would suggest to skiers to; clean out jackets, wipe ski wax off , heat up ski boots etc,,, I realized this year why I am so happy as a skier gypsy. It took another fellow skier who is Bob Harwood to help me find this source of happiness. These following suggestion are his to share to all skiers and he has given me permission to share with you the secret to a really happy gypsy skier. I suspect after these "views" it will make you not only a more happy skier but also a happier overall person. Is that not all our goal! Enjoy! The first viewing will touch "home" to some of you who have been close to the edge, close to that void where skiing is no longer possible. I know it made me strive to be a better skier when others were saying I would not ski ever again! Viewing 1 http://www.youtube.com/v/ji5_MqicxSo Viewing 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTugjssqOT0 Viewing 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gr-GqUATv48 Viewing 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b1GKGWJbE8 So when you ski in that powder heaven this season,,,,think what you saw in August and how it made you a happier skier and perhaps in coming years,,,,a skier gypsy! You have left that job that really just gave you money and no pleasure! See you in that white heaven! |
Perhaps I did not express myself correctly.
Let me try again, These "ribbons", streamers, trailers, "straps" are very thin very colorful material "ribbons" which tear off very easily if ever "caught" ,,thus are NOT dangerous during avalanche! They are attached with a plastic clip which also will "rip off" if more than XXX kgs. of pressure is applied! Resuming. These ribbons are not tied to skier thus not dangerous. These ribbons are colorful and not tied to skier. These ribbons are colorful, not tied to skier and float since they are very light These ribbons are colorful, light, "fragile", and float above snow! Doubt if there is one case of a skier dying due to "hanging" with such a fragile thin colorful material, but then again Ise anything is possible! As always skiers,,, it is your call.Losing a ski in powder or getting choked/hung to death by a colorful ribbon. What a death! Makes you think,,,,,,, I can see it now. My new ski novel. "There was the skier's body a red, white and blue ribbon wrapped around his neck and on his lips,,,,a frozen smile" Was it an accident or did some "dark" force wrap it around his neck to stop him from telling skiing secrets" Read chapter two! |
Mike,,,,
And you were a "beginner skier" a short while ago???? Yes of course you are right!!! The one second "tell all" which can determine if the skier is a powder fanatic is those powder leashes or straps tucked under his pants! What you have no idea what powder straps are and what they are used for! A ski costs a lot of money. In serious powder with snow over your hips,,if you fall ( it does happen once in a while) and the ski is "released, how do you locate your ski ???? You can spend precious hours looking for your ski! Serious powder skiers have a ribbon like strap that has wild colors so it stands out in the white snow! Mine is 4 meters of red blue and yellow wild wild colors! You tie this ribbon to your rear binding and the rest of the 2-4 meters is tucked in your pants leg just above the boots! When the ski is released, the ribbon is pulled out of the pants cuff and floats to snow surface while ski submarines! Just pull on ribbon,,get ski back, clip on and presto off you are skiing powder again! No serious powder skier leaves home without his/her powder strap! Bravo Mike! ( You must be a very serious powder skier)! |
AJ,
Those beans,,,, Ever read on some ski sites the following, "Going to XyZ ski resort, where are the secret places for powder snow?" Imagine asking on the net for a "secret" place!!! No No AJ,,,,to find this place you must search! You must read some previous Pavel posts! You must think like Sherlock! The clues are there! You see I would love to see you there,,but right now I ski from 8:30 till 4:30 non stop with 2-3 minutes of "waiting" No lines! No pushing and shoving! I even wait sometimes, for someone since I do not like to go up alone! Now if I was to announce this place on net,,a swarm of skiers would come discover this paradise that is 50% off what you pay yet gives 200% more skiing! No,,not yet! It is my place with open slopes all day! No rock music, few bars and even fewer "expert" skiers coming out of the woods! What I can do AJ,,is when I meet some rare "Brits" I will give them my card or perhaps just one bean with your address so when you get a strange message saying they have a bean for you,,,you will find out! Till then,,off to the empty slopes! Now I know that Mike and perhaps DaveMac know the importance of "silence" so when DaveMac comes to visit his son,,,,,, or Mike comes over to the dark side and allows those powers to take over,,,,,, Pavel |
RoseR,
No NO ! You are still at the base! There is +40 cm. of powder! You are just about to click into the skis,,,,,then the moment of truth arrives! You are a "powder hound" OR a want to be..... You are a snow dolphine or a "puffer fish" You are a snowflake "taster" or flake maker! It shows in one second. There and then!!!! You can not hide it! The knowning powder hounds just smile because they know you are part of the tribe! Part of the "secret" society of snow dolphins! In a second! HO,,,,I sense sleepless nights coming! |
Bandit,
You surprise me with your "quiet perceptions"! I have been tempted several times to post a message about this whole issue,,,goggles/ sunglasses in the Spring! We could really start a whole debate just on that! You are correct Bandit! Wearing those goggles all the time does something to the brain! Pavel |
