Food in Austria?
Started by Steve_bitton in Austria, 4 Replies, discussing Egg
You can definitely get bratwurst und Kartoffeln = sausage and chips in Austria at most mountain huts.
We are a mixed ability group going to Samoens and Grand Massif. Is it possible to ski the whole area on greens and blues? What is the ski school like? How frequently does the bus run around the resorts and are you allowed to pay if not skiing? Supermarkets for self catering? What is there for non skiers? Can you get a bus to other places? Just trying to gather information for the group to help us make informed decisions. I know I'll get some good answers on here
Snow record for Sell Am See in March?
Started by Numpty1 in Austria, 4 Replies, discussing Kaprun and Zell am See
We have skied in nearby Lofer for many years and regularly had a day in Zell. You have a nice town and lake but then the City Express up to the slopes. You also have the glacier at Kaprun nearby. Snow is part of nature and nothing is guaranteed these days. Have a good time.

Sore shins
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 2 Replies
For reasons too long to explain, this year I had a pair of ski boots hired for a day. 10 days after I returned home I still have sore shins from these boots, there is no visible bruising, but they are very tender. Anyone any idea how long before they return to normal?
Easy skiing in Austria or Italy?

Lofer in Austria, traditional village, check out Bergfex, it is listed on there. Great resort for beginners /intermediates, no big tour groups go, and it is where the British Ski Team used to be based. 40 minutes from Salzburg. Reasonable prices, a nice friendly mix of Scandinavians and East Europeans, well worth a look, our 6th visit shortly.

Lofer in Austria, all the details on Bergfex, it is in Salzburgerland, 40 mins from Salzburg, not used by any British tour operators, a lovely mix of Scandinavians and East Europeans. Gondola up to the main slopes, we're off for the 6th time this year, ticks a lit of boxes advert few left queues, and everyone is very polite from lift attendants to skiers
