DaveMac,
I tried posting a short story several days ago and seems the site "shuts me off" or closes the section after several seconds! It was a rather longer story so I will now write it on word and then transfer it to this site!

Dave (site guru if you are reading this,,,,,can we fix this or is it my computer) I do not want to bother Dave since he is always so busy with other more important matters"

As far as stories,,well I have many. The one coming is about,,,,Garage Wines! Yes it has to do with skiing,,but in a Pavel story tradition it makes you look more globally!

Hint: see movie, "A Good Year" with Russell Crowe and you will better understand this coming story.

What skis for a beginner?

DaveMac and Trencher gave excellent advice.
If beginner first try out "activity"!
Think of it like a "marriage"!
First do you really want to get married?
Then if yes,,what kind of wife do you want since finding a "compatible" ski is as difficult as finding a wife! Trust me!
Then you must find out what you like in a ski,,so like in a "martiage" it will take you several years to discover the "qualities" of a ski! I know,,I know others will tell that this ski or that ski is great for you (like others will find you the best wife),,,,but you must determine that!
How?
Learn to ski on rented (sorry "hired" ) skis! Take lessons and slowly you will discover that all skis have personalities. You will fall in love with one of those "personalities"!

That is the joy of skiing! Finding that great great ski for you!

I have just finished testing 20 pair of skis and oh my are they different!!!! All great but so different!

How cold do you like it?

Just had a -30 c ski day! It was great since no skiers and very very fast conditions!

The secret to skiing such conditions are;
-dress in layers with quality core body products
-seal all entry zones (hint buy tennis sweat cuffs for wrists) This zone is a serious problem area since mating between gloves and jacket often is poor.

-get a windproof neck protector. North Face makes the very best with a elastic for face.

Place two heat packets just above boot cuff , but inside the ski pants! Is better that heated boots since it warms muscles and blood going to feet.

Place heat packs near those tennis cuffs. Heats hand muscles and blood going to hands!

oh,,,never drink alcoholic type drinks,,it will NOT warm up up!!!

Use quality face cream on nose.

Now ski and enjoy!

Pick lifts that are fast and short
Inactivity is your enemy,,,not skiing.

Please, all persons that did not DVDs from me, forgive my silence. The error was not due to me. Seems many postal service persons like to watch ski videos!

Respectfully,
Pavel
DaveMac,
It is a small world!

A skiing friend in Alaska saw your post Dave and sent me your response! I was in another part of this earth,,and got her messages!

Hope all is fine and that DVD I sent you is motivating you (as if you need that)!!! Caron has not yet received this copy! I am waiting a few more weeks,,till I sense her desire to ski!!!! Then it will motivate her, her husband and kids!

Respectfully,
Pavel
Dids1,
Yes you can. Will send you via PM all information and DVD if you desire!

Just do it soon. Do not wait!

Pavel
Well the dealine is past.
All the answers are in,,,,,and no winner!

Bandit was the very best with great answers, however the minimum score level score was not attained so polar vest is going to a needy person in local shelter!

Till nexst time!
