Oooh ise I think you've done terminal damage there.

Which ski resort??

I have skied around 4 weeks in the US, some of which was on horrible rock hard and sparse conditions in high season. Additionally,I have skied in Europe every year since 1984 and not had poor snow since the early 90's. The last 3 winters have been very good for snow where I ski in Switzerland.

Which ski resort??

You want to come to Switzerland, but you'd like it to be quite like America :?:

You may find it quite hard to get "ski in/out condos" in Switzerland, as the Swiss don't generally go in for the bulk accommodation at the ski base stuff. Maybe one exception is Haute Nendaz/Siviez, which are plain ugly.
Swiss resorts are communities and have a life outside winter sports, so generally, you will find that as they have evolved over many years they lack the uniformity of French high altitude resorts and their shoebox apartment blocks (for example).
On the upside, if you choose to visit Switzerland, you can utilise the Swiss Railways System, which is very efficient and offers a integrated service in conjunction with the Postbus service in outlying areas.

I don't object to advertising, or ski magazines being chock full of adverts. What makes me browse and not buy, is the endless circulating stream of the same articles which pretend to be informative, but are adverts. Wait about 3 years and the same articles appear over again, still advertorial, and still not declared as such. It makes me think of the Lonely Planet writer who recently admitted making up entries, and not having visited those destinations.

I don't believe that skiers/boarders are that gullible anymore.

Personally, I like my drag lifts quite normal.

Now that is a surprise

Meanwhile, back on topic, I would favour Austria over France for begninners anyday. Better terrain and better teaching methods.

Stands back, waits for flaming to begin........

Oh good, it keeps out the riff-raff :D

if only :D only the odd drag lift seems to keep away the riff-raff

Perhaps lift companies in Europe could be persuaded to install lots more.It could be a new spectator sport.

Sub optimal, shirley not ). You do look rather chuffed in the photo at the summit of Piz Buin 8) And I shall never view my sun cream in the same way again.
Looks like you had a really good time, and good accommodation as well. There is a small risk that you will turn into a hot shower loving softie...
