Where to GO in North America
Started by User in Canada, 38 Replies
Well, I guess someone has to go to the US, or all those Homeland Security staff will be out of a job. Looks like it's you

I know where I feel more welcome, and it's definitely not America.
Switzerland does short breaks quite well. Maybe somewhere like Verbier would suit your group. It's not too far from Geneva. Have a look here http://www.j2ski.com/ski_resorts/Switzerland/Verbier.html at the accommodation links to find a short stay apartment, or you could contact the Tourist Office direct.
I have stayed with Interhome in a variety of resorts on other than a Sat-Sat basis.

I followed the link in the last post, and it seems to me that when compared to j2ski, there is tons more resort information on this site. The only difference is a few recommendations for bars and restaurants, which can be quite subjective and open to influence. j2ski has an active forum, which can fulfill the "user experience" category quite well.
goggles advice please

And in response to Bennyboy's that is my main reason for looking at North America The SNOW in Europe is such a gamble getting board of every year praying to the snow gods, fancy just knowing I will have snow for one year.

I know just what you mean...

September 07 Zermatt...powder

December 07 Zinal...more powder

January 08...Switzerland powder again

April 08...more untouched Swiss powder

I feel that I should point out that I'm not at all religeous :D

With the exception of La Grave they are big Tour Op destinations. Have you been anywhere interesting?

**** SKI SNOB ALERT **** :!:

Well, if you say so :D Been to most of the big touristy places, and found it's more fun to go somewhere where no-one speaks my language and there is no "english" bar

Incidentally, I still am of the opinion that the old Marker latch-up heel binding was terrific, it was so simple in construction. In disclosing this, I am, of course admitting to pre-dating step-in bindings.

That's a fairly modest step, I could admit to so much more.....

STOP PRESS

In a shock announcement Dave Mac, admits he's actually 102 years old
