Thank you Far Queue!.
Fischer's new ski boots
Started by User in Ski News, 6 Replies
Fischer has introduced radical new ski boots for those who have fitting issues!

Tried this model last year!
It is unique since it molds liner and shell !

Not for beginners,,but if you are a skier who plans to ski for the next 10 years and want that "comfy" feel while skiing! Get these!

One note of caution!

Go to ski shop that has experience in these boots and is certified to mold them ! The procedure is not simple!

See Fischer site for more info!

Do you know "Kiss" approach?

Keep
It
Simple
Silly

One concept,,one technique, one move at the time!

I am amazed when I "listen" in to instructors giving class 5-6 points to "remember" while skiing!
They barely have chance to survive on slope and must remember;
keep hands front
look 5 meters ahead
do not rotate body
lean forward
breath 3 times
smile and push toes etc,,,,

It is by repeating over and over the correct sequence on an easy hill that the movements become "automatic" "instinctual" and effective!

Yes take lessons,,,then practice over and over these correct moves!

I see skiers take lessons,,,,then when they are free skiing ( not with instructor) they forget what was taught and regress to; waving hands about, leaning back, going too fast, rotating body etc,,,

Want to become an expert skier?

Practice,,over and over just like a musician, gymnast, figure skater!

Dave Mac,

I am not free of sins!

Yes I also "jumped" off a single chair lift that was stuck ( after 30 minutes)! Did not seem that high until free fall ! That soft powder snow seemed "soft" ! Never again!

As far as teaching skiing to wife,,kids,,,,remember you have to live with them after the lessons!

You all have given me an idea! I do get these great ideas once in a while!

We will start a SKI SIN list of worst SINS!

Persons can "confess" their sins and we will rate them!

1 = low level sin
10 = highest level sin

Every week we will rate these sins, I will get average and announce "weekly sinner winners" !

At end of month we can take weekly winners and vote on them to get "monthly" sin winner!
A small prize will be given!

Let me begin by "confessing" to this ski sin!

Many many years ago,,,,when I was young I did not have much money, but I had a passion skiing!

I could not afford ski clothing so I "made" my own!

I confess to taking an old army surplus green jacket from the Korean war ( most do not even know what this war was about)! I took an old raccoon fur coat, cut up sections and with fur made my own liner!

Not very fashionable, not very chic,,but in -30c it was great!

Problem was that wet fur gives off a special odor!
Problem was that OLD fur gives off another special odor!

I always wondered why I was alone going up a chair lift!

Now when I look at some old pictures,,,,I think of my sins!
Terrible look!

Looked like a "homeless" man!

It did serve me well for 10 years,,then I think my wife "forgot it" in the trash can !!!
Missed the memories,,but not the coat!

All you skiers who saw me then ( only a few now) please forgive me!

We are were only once!

It kept the passion alive!

Tino,
You are right,,,so my next list will be called, "The Never Ever" list !

Can you admit that there are some really really NEVER items in skiing!

Such as;

Never ever sprinkle sand on a hot waxed ski bases.

Never ever be late for a powder ski day.

Never ever get married in winter

Never ever drill a hole in a ski without a bit stopper.

Never ever switch ski boots so right is left and left is right

Never ever ski on 220 cm Downhill World Cup skis in a public open slope.

and so on!!!!
I have seen them all!

This one site Vimeo has the very best series of videos on how to carve skis!

http://vimeo.com/7571404

Enjoy them all

Alisairs,

Taking your skis to your bedroom is not a sin!

Taking them in your bed IS!

I did the half measure,,,,took them to my bedroom,,,,on the floor beside bed so I could touch them once in a while while sleeping! Of course this was done BEFORE I was married!

Now I just sneak down in the night go to my tuning room and make sure they are "ready" for me!
If questions are asked,,,,at my age I have an "excuse",,,,,,,,(which you will discover later) !

My kind of man Alistairs but not sure if I would share a room with you on a ski trip! My Fischers might "excite" you too much!!!!
