Hi, welcome :D It might be useful for folks to see what price you want for your kit, and the photos will be a bonus.
No one is nit picking on what you did. You have received thanks for raising the topic within the thread.

If you are happy to let your guide supply and manage your safety equipment, then fine, it's your personal decision.

I started this thread to raise awareness - and now get the feeling that others are intent on nit picking on what I did originally spend a lot of time formulating - with emphasis on checking and getting local information and expertise.

These local expert's who advised you don't reckon on skiers carrying avvy probes. Please name them, so I can avoid hiring them, yes really.

If you have posted inaccurate information on what is a very serious topic, then you can expect debate as you have posted onto an open forum. Readers may see your posts and think that it is definitive.

As for there being a status of "none" for avalanche risk, there is no 0 on the hazard scale, possibly an acknowledgement that avalanches can be formed from material other than snow.

I would say that no-one who is an expert, would call themselves such, as that would imply that they knew all there was to learn.

I believe that those who post here regularly do give plenty of attention to their own safety in the mountains. Among the correspondents to this thread is someone who undertakes long distance high alpine tours both winter and summer.
Yes, you have offered up what you know, perhaps it's an indication that you have some more to learn. There are plenty of courses on offer.

My ambition is to get my ski kit, including my boots, on as hand luggage, so as to cut the journey to the Alps by the luggage waiting time. (I use Easyjet) Haven't figured it out yet though. I am down to 13Kgms. I only ever take four days clothes, wash and dry each night.

This is wholly achievable with Easyjet who have not banned ski boots as hand luggage. However there are numerous anecdotal reports of (various airports UK and abroad) security staff refusing to allow ski boots through as hand luggage, despite the meeting of all gov't/EU restriction criteria for size, shape, material etc.
Of course it could all be a ruse to make folks buy hold luggage space

I agree with the other posters that 1 jacket and pants will be fine for each of you. Layers are useful, 2 thermal tops each (wash n wear)and 1 pair of LJ's each. Mid layer fleece Polartec 100 grade. Don't skimp on gloves, suggest mitts for the youngest.
Sking in Austria (Best Resorts)

Hi, welcome to the forum :D Your travel dates may rule out plenty of Austrian resorts, as they don't often get opened until December, though there may be plenty of snow. Obertauern may be open, plus glacier resorts like Hintertux or Stubai. Nightlife will be what you make it, that early in the season!

This link to the Austrian Tourist Board may be useful for you.

I ordered medium and they sent large, and when I emailed them, they said they are out of stock of medium now

So they are going back to the US free of charge, and they are sending me an alternative more expensive pair by the same manufacturer with a £50 dollar refund

What a PITA! Did you have to pay up on UPS delivery?

You could also try buying a small rubber jelly pad (the proper name escapes me) that you can balance on one leg on. It will be difficult at first but gets suprisingly easier quite quickly.
Hope this helps.

Would that be a "Balance Disc" or "Wobble Disc" ?

I have seen them in TK Maxx occasionally. I use them at my gym. Very effective for engaging the minor muscles in the legs. Use a pair for squats, or balance on a single. Good for proprioception problems IME.
