Check out UV400 safety glasses, and cycling glasses. Unlike sunglasses, they are designed not to injure your face/eyes during an impact. Many look like designer sun glasses, but you can afford to take two pairs, not worry about someone sitting on them, and throw them away when scratched. Most are UV400 rated.

Most instructors in the US wear helmets. Very rare to see a ski patroller now without a helmet. Just about all the experienced skiers I know, and all the older snowboarders are now helmeted. The only people who are not wearing one, are about one third of the teens in the terrain park, and the the people who only ski very occasionally.

There are no tour operators in the US. Most ski area accommodation will include lift passes, but do check. You will have to figure out how to get there.
