An English skier has been fined 45 days income by a court in Vaud after a collision with another skier in 2005.
He was found to have broken Articles 2 and 3 of the FIS Code of Conduct. The collision took place on a blue piste in the resort of Leysin, and neither man can remember the circumstances of the collision. The other party suffered 45% loss of hearing after the accident. The only witness was a friend of the injured man. Article here in French from magazine 24Heures.. http://www.24heures.ch/vaud/actu/skieur-condamne-su-freiner-2009-02-11 My apologies if my French comprehension is not up to the job. |
Tignes has summer skiing for all levels except complete beginners. I have been skiing there in July, but it was years ago. It was extremely cold and windy!
Many race teams train on the glacier slopes in summer, so you may share a lift with a World Cup racer. Tignes skiing, used to be open all year round. It now has a rest period for the glacier slopes during part of the summer. Zermatt is currently open year round. Also worth considering is Les Deux Alps which has summer and autumn glacier skiing for all levels. If you want to ski on a glacier in summer, be prepared to get up early, as the lifts generally start about 8am and run through until 2 or 3pm. |
And I though new kit was easier to ski on. That poor guy, is he the only BBC Scotland Reporter that can (sort of) ski.

I have heard that a fella called spyderjon is selling a P-Tex gun that is pretty good. I hear good things about it from CEM. If you want one you know where to find him.
Apart from that I use: An old Iron A small Vice 2 Ski supports Brake straps Plastic scraper Metal scraper Gurt Big B'tard file Scrubbing brush for base texture (clean) 2 Edge tools to cover all angles De Burring block Diamond Files for fine repairs |
I do bits and bobs. Can't get to grips with P-Tex, it always falls out
Waxing I can do  |
Hells Bells, have you been drinking  |
Actually I expect that as you seem quite cross about this resorts failure to come up to your standards that you addressed the lift company while you were there. What was their response? You seem to be slagging off a whole resort and damaging the livelihoods of the folks that live and work there. Perhaps J2ski should invite the resort to respond directly onto this thread. Flinging abuse around on J2ski does nothing to help the original poster. |
No not really. I took lessons beyond the basics to improve my skills and enhance the experience I get on snow. If you think that's elitist it's fine by me. If you want pristine grooming I suggest Courchevel 1850 would suit your party. There are huge problems for many resorts at the moment with the dumbing down of slopes leading to excessive speeding, collisions and fatalities. http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,599190,00.html |
