Salomon Boots

Salomon describe the Performa as an "all-rounder"... and, broadly, their boot numbering indicates the overall stiffness of the boot. Their boot designs have been fairly stable for the last few seasons, so your boot will be very, very similar to their current Performa 6 (being numbered 5.99, it may even be an early release of this years model 6 - they've been rumoured to do this with skis; there are some very strangely numbered CrossMax's around!).

So check the description of this years Performa 6 for suitability. I would think if you are anywhere from early to experienced intermediate they will be a great boot - and if they fit you fine then that's a result! 8)
Ok, we are a European portal, but we like Canada, so... Canadians can be honorary Europeans for now!

Ski-in, ski-out luxury chalets accommodating groups of 2 - 22. Both these chalets are within walking distance of all amenities, shopping, restaurants, etc. at Sun Peaks Resort. Both have fabulous views of the village and mountains.
Hot tubs, fireplaces, and much more . . . . .

Ugh, ten years ago that was an easy question to answer... and you would probably have got suggestions from 140cm to maybe 165cm length. But now skis come in different shapes and construction so that length is no longer a reliable indicator.

How much of a "beginner" ? Has she skiied before?

If it's her absolute first time, I'd suggest hiring the shortest you can find for day 1 and 2. If she has set boot on ski before then you probably want to be looking for a nice soft carver of a short length - something that will turn easily and be forgiving. Softness is probably more important than length - but short is good for a beginner.

There are now ladies skis from the major manufacturers so do a bit of reading... and then...

You best plan is to book some lessons for your (her) first few mornings on snow and follow the instructors advice - be prepared to hire different skis at the end of the week than you did at the start (any good hire shop will let you swap skis mid-week).

You might get some ideas by playing around with Salomons groovy product selector; although many of the options will be for the distant future - you should get a feel for what to look for in a ski.

Hope that helps,

Dave

How sad, whatever happened to heading for the mountains for some peace and tranquility? The picture of the lift queue does imply that maybe the resort could have handled the event better but even so...

Hi guys (gals?), if you haven't found it yet you could try Natives - ski workers community and Snowheads which is a fairly busy forum and has a few Chalet Owners among the regular posters.

Good luck,

Dave
