Hi,
Resorts in the French Pyrenees open for the first weekend of December as this is a big Spanish holiday and all the Barcelonians come up to ski. The main resorts are Les Angles and Font Romeu which have bars, restaurants and nightclubs. There are other smaller resorts around such as St Pierre dels Forcats and Puigmal but these do not have nightlife so are probably not best for a stag do! All resorts have lots of snow cannon so as long as its cold there will be snow. Hope this helps. Regards Sarah |

We can help you with a complete holiday package, taking the worry out of transfers, hiring kit, getting ski passes, etc, etc, etc.... We can offer you accommodation in our catered chalet at the foot of the pistes in our great resort of Cambre d'Aze in the French Pyrenees. Our chalet prices include airport transfers (Perpigna - Ryanair or bmibaby) of just 75 mins, accommodation, breakfast, afternoon tea, apaeratifs and four course evening meal with wine. We will be on hand to help you all along the way of your holiday so you can enjoy the skiing not the organisation! Being in the Pyrenees we can offer prices usually much cheaper than in the Alps and once you get here you will notice the massive "reduced" difference in prices of lifts passes, ski hire and beers! Check out our website : www.pyrenees-ski-experience.com for more info or give us a call or email. Regards Sarah Blackmore info@pyrenees-ski-experience.com 00 33 468 04 18 79 |
Hi Bryan,
Your post gives you part of the answer ..... Paris decamps to the Alps so if you head further south to the Pyrenees you will avoid Parisiens and the rest of the north of France. Most of British skiers go to the Alps as they have not looked further at the fantastic skiing we have here in the Pyrenees, so you will avoid most of the Brits too! The Pyrenees are family friendly, cheaper and quieter than the Alps. Check out our website on www.pyrenees-ski-experience.com to find out more about the skiing available. We offer catered chalet accommodation or self catered chalets and apartments and I am sure we can find something to suit your needs. Ase live in the area we also know the quieter periods and can advise on the best dates. Regards Sarah |
Hi,
Many companies - including independant chalets - offer discounts for early bookings. This applies especially to the smaller companies who are looking for an income during the quieter summer/autumn months. True you can't judge conditions then but at least you get to choose where you stay. If the only thing that matters is the snow condition then maybe wait but if you need to think about holiday dates, travel and would like to choose your chalet/apartment then you will need to book earlier - especially if you are intending to travel over Xmas/New Year or in February. |
If your looking for a ski holiday or just accommodation in a ski resort check out our offers on
www.pyrenees-ski-experience.com or www.pyreneesholidays.net Special early booking discounts and offers on apartments Happy searching |
Hiya,
As frst time skiers you would be well advise to avoid the larger resorts in the Alps. They are usualy very, very busy during his period and you could eaily be put off by the aggressive attitude of the more "experienced" skiers. Take a look at the French Pyrenees. You will find family friendly resorts - just as high as the Alps - and at a much reduced price. If you have never skied before why spend loadsa dosh on something you may not like? The Pyreees are cheaper all round - lift passes, resaurants, beer! So you can enjoy a family freindly holiday without breaking the bank. Take a look at our site www.pyreneesholidays.net where we offer catered ski chalet holidays and chalets and apartments to rent. As first timers you would probably be best in a catered chalet where you will looked after properly - transfers, meals, help with lift passes, pre-booking of lessons and ski hire etc Happy searching |
