Would always go last minute if you are flexible....means you get the best of the snow in a strange season like this one!! Done both this year and got best conditions when booked and went!
A bad day on the slopes is better than a good day in the office !

Hi,

Many companies - including independant chalets - offer discounts for early bookings. This applies especially to the smaller companies who are looking for an income during the quieter summer/autumn months.

True you can't judge conditions then but at least you get to choose where you stay. If the only thing that matters is the snow condition then maybe wait but if you need to think about holiday dates, travel and would like to choose your chalet/apartment then you will need to book earlier - especially if you are intending to travel over Xmas/New Year or in February.

If you are tied to getting specific week(s) booked for leave, then I would suggest booking accommodation in a high altitude resort, just to be on the safe side.

If you can wait until a week or two before travelling, there are usually bargains available, and you can choose the place with the best snow cover :D

Tour Ops are always keen to get customers signed up 6 to 9 months in advance, it's good for cashflow, however, they can and will cancel your booking if insufficient folks make the early commitment.

You may perhaps want to consider getting travel sorted now, as the lo-co's have just released their timetables, then assembling your own package using Tourist Offices in the resorts to source accommodation.
