ski boots help
Started by User in Beginning Skiing, 2 Replies
Some custom foot beds are very grippy making it hard for socks to slide over them. If it is a custom foot bed, you would might find it very uncomfortable any way (unless you and your brother are identical twins). To remove it and replace it with another foot bed (insole), you will need to pull the liners out of the boot shells. It is then easy to pull the foot bed out.

You might want to do some reading up on ski boot fitting.

The case of Sarah burke's medical bill show's the cost.

If you are conscious when you are brought into the ER, the first thing they want is to see your insurance card.
Just another 2 cents worth. Huge difference between a stem turn and a snowplough used as brake for speed control. One wedge shape facilitates a turn, the other blocks a turn.

I have to revise this post...

I agree to a certain extent, in that I have, and will continue to overtake very slow traffic, especially when I am on my way to work. Mostly it is vehicles with snow chains or people who do not know their way. I understand why and am not an agressive driver but sometimes I just don't have the time to hang around. However I am not the kind of idiot that does it on a bend and/or when traffic is coming in the other direction.

Lucky for us there are not too many out of State drivers in MN in the winter. When the weather does change at the start of winter, we don't automatically switch to winter driving mode. Every year it takes a while to get a feel back for the conditions and assessing how much grip there actually is. Just as the Eskimos are supposed to have a hundred different words for snow, so the roads are different everyday. Sometimes snow crystals are very slippery, sometimes they are very grippy. Being able to quickly (and subconsciously) asses how to drive takes while.
Help - what make of mittens?
Started by User in Ski Chatter, 9 Replies
Some mittens are better than others, but unless you want to ski with a bed quilt wrapped around each hand, you will need an additional heat source on very cold days. If you suffer from cold hands (for what ever medical reason), no regular glove/mitten alone will be enough. Charcoal hand warmers the easiest way solve the problem.

I agree with the happy wife=happy life which is why she has just got boots with heated elements inside!

:-)

but who's responsible for making sure the batteries are charged? If it's not you, then you are a lucky man
