Have you tried looking on Chalets Direct, lots of independently owned chalets on there which may be more flexible. Not sure whether your choice of resort is on there or not though. www.chaletsdirect.com

We went there for New Year, about 3 years ago. There wasn;ta great deal of snow down to the village, so downloadded by gondola from the mid-station. It is a long way to Les Arcs however, as Champagny links into La Plagne skiing above Plagne Centre. It is actually quicker to go to Courchevel for the day by car (included on the lift pass) than ski across to Les Arcs. It is a lovely village though, and I would think it would also have much more of a summer season than a higher village. You might also consider Montalbert.

HI, we have a chalet apartment in Monetier-les-Bains, a spa-village at the foot of the slopes of Serre Chevalier (France). Tha army championships are often held there. Only 200m to the nursery slopes across a new footbridge, and with a pool and sauna in the complex. Loads for the competent skier, and for beginners. Sleeping up to 5 people, and fully equipped for self-catering with dishwasher and washing machine.There is a british ski school in the village for lessons.
