Magic Numbers all skiers should know!

I can not believe I got "hooked on these numbers"! The proof I just got up and before making my coffee, before brushing my teeth, I rushed down to the screen to see if Dean ( ie Ellistine) got my hints!

Regardless who wins you are all winners ( that is those that participant) since you use these numbers in a new way from now on.

You will understand the "secrets" of the skiing world and then smile remembering this quiz!

Thank Mike and Ellistine for your numbers!

Bob, where are your numbers ( new member) ?

Ellistine,

You are learning more than just about skiing! ( in your confusion).

Have you noticed that in situations when we must make decisions and have too much information, the brain can't get "right data"!

Try this, forget the "intellectual" ( the neurons are screaming,,,,"does not compute,,,does not compute" so go for the more basic approach, your gut emotional feeling. That answer is there. You have seen the information. You have once even asked me about that famous last number so it is there in your being!

Just let the numbers come out as YOU FEEL!

I do not know what you do as far as occupation but I am sure you are aware of the line, in the end "it is the bottom line" that is important!

It is so in business and it is so in skiing!

Go for it!

Thank you Dean.

We must get a prize for the first courageous man who submitted the numbers.

Have a great hike!

Dshenberger has it!

A number is a number. It represents a value so that you can make a decision.

A decision that will make you happy!

A wise decision is when you have gathered all the known facts and used these facts to arrive at your goal!

Wise man that Dshenberger.

Makes wise decisions and will make even wiser decisions on Saturday June 9th. 2007!
Waxing skis when abroad

There are several options open to you.
First to answer the essential question, you can just iron once to last all week. In fact you can not wax "ahead" of ski trip since conditions will change.

Whenever I reserve in a hotel or inn I ask if they have a waxing room. Many will provide; bench, iron and vices!

All ski racers stay in hotels where such services are provide.

Many major hotels will find you a place to wax.

All ski resorts have waxing rooms, but they are hidden from "tourists". If you are serious tuner dooprs will open to you!
See patrollers or ski instructors.

I bought a small traveling iron which folds at handel and I do not need vices to hold skis!

Whereever they have cross country skiing they have waxing rooms.

You can not use "other" waxes. Do not use spray or "towel" wax systems. Too expensive and not effective over time.

All ski resorts have a ski team and thus a wax room, locate trainer and he /she will allow you to wax there. To reward them I give them flags or patches from my country. Often I will have ski company promotional products which I will give the racers. It is wise to give some form of "thank you"!

I have a small kit which fits into my ski bag just for tuning! To me it is a must in all ski trips!

Hope this helps you!

Congratulations Mike, you have broken to all time record of "possible" answers on this chat site ( and I suspect all chat sites).

My problem is what do I consider?

May I suggest that you all state, " This is my FINAL 5 numbers" so that once I have given you the answers you will not revert to a "earlier" suggested answer! ( perhaps because some of you came very very close to the answer).

Believe me this is more difficult on me since I am just about to say, "bravo XYZ you have it,,,,,all that is missing is that FIGURE since you have the concept!

You all know what the "shot gun" technique is by reading Mike's "suggestions" How do you think he "won" the last pair of skis! He wore me out with all his suggestions and possible answers!

Thursday 12 PM British time is deadline for all FINAL 5 figures. Trust me,,,,, do suggest 5 final figures since it will be your key to future ski happiness !

Do propose 5 figures Ellistine!
Boot Flex

Mutton,

May I suggestion another solution many skiers are not aware of as far as ski boot flex.

Before you do any "cutting" of the shell, put on boots and see how much FREE PLAY you have between leg at shin area and boot tongue. You should have no play! Boot tongue should fit cozy on shins. If you have play, ie you can insert two fingers between tongue and shins, then get some power straps at the upper section of boot. I know that your boots have a power strap already but if you look carefully many straps are too low on boot. You want the strap to be as high as possible on boot.

You probably are wondering with so high or why two power straps.

You want to transfer the slightest movement of the knee to the ski, thus free play at the boot cuff forces you to make MORE of a knee action to get same ski reaction. That is why ALL racers now wear power straps above the stock boot strap!

Try it!

Your skiing will improve!

Hope this helps you.

Cheers
