the forecast for St Anton is heading in the right direction although its seems to change pretty frequently.

i don't get there until the 28th so hopefully I'll be fine. failing that I'll just have to take hit on the hotel cost and find another resort

Well what a difference a couple of days make.

Dorfgastein have just announced they will be up and running to the mid-station from 13th and on top of that the forecast looks cold enough to carry on snow making for most of the week. All other areas looking good in Gastein now too with snow all the way down to the bottom at Angertal thus linking Hofgastein and Gastein areas.

Got to love those snow making systems, well worth the outlay for the resorts.

St Anton is starting to look a little more promising, still needs some natural stuff though but i am slightly more optimistic

i see chairs on the Galzig cam, i don't recall seeing those before unless my minds just trying to put a positive spin on things

Due to the current weather situation and taking into account the current forecasts, we regret to inform that a ski season launch on Friday, December 5, 2014 is not possible and it must therefore be expected to move on Friday, December 12, 2014.

looks like at Christmas slopes will be very busy. It doesn't seem like any decent snowfall is expected soon, so lot of terrain will remain closed with a possibility of some lower-lying resorts shipping their tourists to resorts that are higher... I love my Christmas in the mountains but I wish we had another month to it to give it a chance to snow properly...

i am impressed they can (assuming they do) open Friday. the cams look much better although i would imagine its a wafer thin cover at best. i still have over 2 weeks before i arrive so fingers crossed

Yeh my first "booked" weekend of visitors is the 19th, so trying not to flap, although the forecasts are all still rubbish currently. Resorts are opening but gonna be limited slopes and crappy snow.
