Thanks for the input Tony.

The route you suggested looks like it would take even longer than the Munich delay (plus additional costs such as Swiss Vignette and possible French Tolls), however it did lead me to look at going via Innsbruck, then cutting up to join the A8 at Ulm. According to Michelin, that route is only 40 minutes longer than via Munich, so assuming no traffic issues, would have been almost two hours faster coming home. Something for me to bear in mind for the future.

FYI, we prefer not to fly for various reasons. Will usually only fly if the drive is not possible. This year, we left the hotel 1 1/2 hours after a friend departed on the airport coach. He arrived home at 9pm, we got back just after midnight. Would have been very close without the delay, so I still think driving is a good option.

Ally G - have you thought about adding the worry of bad weather BEFORE you leave home? What if it snows and the roads aren't clear, or the airports shut!

Now I'm worrying.

Some of you really need to have words with yourselves, seriously... the only remotely negative thing connected with skiing is... whatever stops you from doing it!

I can't think of any hates or worries really.

I wouldn't say it worries me or go as far to say I hate it but mounds of snow cannon snow when you are not expecting it are not high on my list of things I look forward to when skiing!

Exactly my gripe about the inefficiencies of organised airport transfers - they're a hindrance to my skiing!

Admin - I don't think you've been reading this thread carefully enough

Nearly all our worries/dislikes/hates are centred on things that stop us from ski-ing.

I mean, for example, if that apartment manager had decapitated Iceman with his mop then poor Iceman wouldn't have been able to ski any more would he?

And if I don't earn enough/can't see through my foggy glasses/spend all my time rolling around in deep powder looking for my skis/end up on a blood waggon etc. etc. then I can't ski either, can I?

Here - you're not going to delete this entire thread now, are you, like that other one

You've just given me another worry now

But thanks for putting the smilies back into my posts - presumably that was you

And, Nelly, you're quite right, I do worry about the weather stopping me get to the ski resort. I'd forgotten about that one. That can be number 22
