SwingBeeep,
You have truly made that "terrible behavior" the top of my list ( and in a cable car) ugh !!!!!.
Never happened to me and I hope it never happens!
I have seen the results of such poor behavior on the slopes! Luckily I was able to ski away "fast" !
Thanks for the information on normative and criterion evaluation.
If you have a chance visit the Realskier.com site for relevant evaluation results. One of the very few places that do not accept skis from companies and who will not allow ski companies to "help them" in their evaluation.

Pavelski, you've mentioned the benefits of the real skiers site a few times on this site. I don't recall you mentioning the Paywall.
You have quoted the Real Skiers site as useful. To make it worth visiting a payment of:
Source Page titled "Subscribe to realskiers": https://www.expertskier.com/subscribe.htm
needs to be made as most of the analysis is hidden behind a Paywall.
I feel sure that it offers value for those folks who don't want to test skis before purchase. I've looked at the sample page and their test of the Movement Jam as a sample here, the last sentence makes me think "So what!" It's pretty meaningless, even if you have heard of Harold Harb (I have).

The idea is that your ski boots are your most important piece of equipment. If you have spend a lot of time and money getting the perfect pair (with all the custom adjustments and fitting), then having to make do with a rental pair when the airline loses your bag would be a disaster. In the US and Canada at least, there is no problem putting your boots in your carry on bag. I've read it's more restrictive n Europe.

Bandit,
Not sure what Paywall has to do with skiing?
Since this is a skier's site, for skiers who want services and information on topic I suggested Realskier site for the skier who wants unbiased ski evaluation information.
I am not involved with them in any way, except that I do ski with Peter Kelty on ocassion.
Paywall ?

Bandit,
We are far off the never list, but let me answer your "hesitations" !
First I am not registered to this paying site.
I have nothing to do with this site,,except that I ski with some of the testers and we do discuss ski performances.
My point was this. If you want to get an "expert" opinion on what a ski can do and its performance range then rather than just read from all sorts of "experts" ( some good some,,,,,,) then try out this site!
In my opinion it is the very best site of non-biased ski information. Just read the text on ski binding placement !
Bandit, we all make choices in life. Is the "entry" fee worth the information. That is for each person to decide.
Dave, this site's guru makes the decision to have some ads on the side. What kind of ads and information he allows is his choice.
Skiers who want to be educated, informed about skiing have many sources. It is up to each person to decide which source is appropriate.
Now back to the Never Ever List !
A friend in the ski business ( a ski area manager ) mentioned some never ever items ski resorts have done!
1. Refused a blind man to bring his dog in hotel ! Clerk did not know he was blind!!!!!
2. Play Rap Music at 8 AM during a seniors gathering
3. Fire a ski patroller who took a skiers ticket for skiing off limits
4. Ski instructor allows a 5 years old to go off alone ( from class) to chalet to see mother!
5. New ski resort management, declines to recognize "life time" season passes given by former ski resort owner!
More to come!

Oh yes,,,,,
the most dangerous never!
The never behavior that many males do ,,but should not to their "friends"
It is,,,taking their beginner friends up to very top ( to see view of course) and then taking them down that "easy" run !!!
Many a skier stopped skiing after that.
Many a skier ended up in patrol hut.
Many a skiers lost friends.
Leave your beginner friends alone with a pro!

So why can't I ever "place your ski boots in general "stow" baggage."?
I was planning on buying some boots in resort this year and bringing them home in my regular luggage. My mother in law's boyfriend takes his boots in his regular luggage all the time.
Is there something I'm missing? I always assumed it was a big airline scam to make you pay more money to check boots in separately.
Ta!
