I confess in the early days of boarding, to having a few dark thoughts. Scruffs, sat in the middle of the piste, and when they get going, they sideslip all the snow back to hard surface. And then....
I was going up the gondola in Niederau, and a boarder came bounding down the Stuck, by the edge of the trees, riding a difficult camber, in crud. He was riding where few skiers would not have tried, the risk of a tree hit would be too high.
Respect.
Trencher does both.

Arc 1950 or 2000 is the best place to learn.

I would agree with most of the advise above. I think snowboarding requires a little more commitment than skiing. You could have fun as a one week a year skier, but it would be very frustrating to be a one week a year snowboarder. On the other hand, if you do other board sports like surfing, or skateboarding, then jumping on a snow board for a week every year would be a natural extension of your skill set. Also, if you intended to hit a snowdome every week as a regular pastime, snowboarding would be again be a good choice.
