Hi Gemski,
I'm a skier but I can board - I spent a season boarding to get me to a decent level but I find that I can go to the same places and do the same tricks on my skis and I don't have to mess around getting in and out of my bindings all day (I like an easy life).
Boarding is really fun though and if you have done a bit of skateboarding, surfing or wakeboarding it usually comes a bit easier - I'd done none of those so that's my excuse!
We have a catered chalet in Bansko so if you want any info about the resort just pm me.
The hire shop that we work with lets our guests swap their gear from skis to boards mid-week or just for your 2nd day if you want to have a go on both and decide which you prefer.
Generally most people find that skiing is easier but a lot of our guests do stick to the boarding although padded shorts are very popular with the girls to avoid quite so many bruises. They make your bum look huge but I love mine!

Welcome to J2ski and you are absolutely right, I love all types snow sport it is down to personal choice
That is the best comment so far! Agree 100%, both are awesome, and the nest thing to do is just enjoy it. Mix it up a bit, if you feel like boarding for a few days do it. Same for skiing.
I agree it is not about being cool it is about doing something you enjoy :D

I welcomed boards years ago when they were frowned upon because it attracted a younger person to the mountains and continued the growth of winter sports. They is no real competition between boards and skis in my humble opinion, Little W has been talking about learning to board which she is more then welcome to do when she has continued to improve her skiing.

I've only ever boarded and to be honest its taken a while to get to the stage i am (most friends progressed much quicker than me)... but I kept going back for more because it is so much fun - so much so that i handed my notice in at work the other week to spend this season in candada :)
i know of a few people (my wife included) who used to be dedicated skiers but now they only snowboard... maybe that is some kind of indication? There is no wrong choice here!

I'm a fan of both. Having learnt to ski at 18, I first tried boarding in the early 90s and then finally ditched the skis in about 1995. Since meeting my hubby I have gone back to skiing, few reasons really, mainly because I was rocketing down the slopes and having to wait a life time for him to get the the bottom of the chair lift, I was getting fed up of scooting on flat bits and having to faff about with doing my bindings up at the top of a lift. Small insignifiant things really, I'm happy skiing these days but do still enjoy a day thrashing a hire board on the slopes.
Boarding seems to be the 'cool' thing to do if you are given a choice (although slighly more difficult and painful to learn), personally I think things have changed a lot since boarding first reared it's head, skis have developed massively to compete with the boarding band wagon and as long as you are enjoying yourself having a slide and making the most of the mountains, I really don't think it matters what you do.

Skiing is far more cool than it used to be.
Anyway, for what its worth, being up on the snow no matter what you are doing is just awesome. Beats not being there.
