yeah I find the watercolours hard to work with. I prefer working with textures hence the acrylic/oils. Yeah been in that pub before its good for music. Still think Neiderau is prettier than Ireland I never thought it would be possible to find a place nicer than it but Austria has it. I seriously doubt Austria can beat Ireland for folk/trad music though. I doubt O'Malley's can offer anything similar. The weird bum kicking Austrian dance, cant compete to the Irish dancing either. What is the bum kicking and leg slapping all about? It's wild funny, they know how to have a good laugh at themselves.

I am jealous of them being able to return for extra weeks.

I doubt you'll do much damage to your liver if all the hotels in Neiderau drink is the same as the hotel the ski school have the awards ceremony in on a Thursday night. They seriously water their spirits down! From the English/Scottish friends I made while in ski school are anything to go by they are as big drinkers as the Irish :-)

I felt drunker in Bobo's after a couple of vodkas than I did in that hotel after 8.

Lol
Glad you have discovered skiing. I did all too late in life at the age of 30.
People can often fall in love with the first place they go to because its such a fantastic scene, the whole skiing and apres thing. Austria is a delightful country with friendly people and some lovely scenery, great food and generally sensibly priced drinks as well.

As a beginner you will have found Niederau offers you what you need, provided the snow is in good enough condition (which currently it certainly is, but beware early or late season when lower slopes can be icy or green). Austria is fantastic when its cold and when theres snow in the villages, but its a matter of fact that many Austrian resorts are low down and as such can suffer when conditions are not so good. I always look to go somewhere higher up personally to avoid any risk of not being able to ski, having pistes closed, or seeing green slopes; thats really not a good sight believe me!!

When you progress, you might hanker after an area with more mileage and different runs to ski, thats natural. Everyone likes to ski at different resorts over time. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages. In the meantime, just enjoy it and look forward to your next trip.

Welcome to the mad addictive world of skiing!!

Snap, I discovered it too late as well. Cannot believe I wasted my time on city and summer holidays over this. Suppose it was because no one else was interested in skiing or discussed the idea of it. But better late than never. :-) I'm sure you are right about snow conditions and different resorts and my likes changing as I progress, but at this moment and time my heart and head belongs to Neiderau!! Reckon it will be another 2 holidays before I could possibly even think about moving from beginner to intermediate level.

Hope my next trip is as good as this one and all the perfect conditions are there again! I'd love to go back again this year never mind next year. But that would be a bit too much...I think.

I wouldn't call it a 'mad world' its an 'exhilarating world.' Right I am off now to get ready for a night of sorrowful drinking! Not because its valentines but because I want to go back to Neiderau!

Another Niederau convert IrishJay! Hubby and I learnt to ski here in 2006, again too late in life, and hubby wasn't keen to go skiing in the first place. We love Austria, have never been anywhere else since we started going there. We have been to Niederau every year since we learnt to ski, have skiied other places in Austria but always go back to N at least once a year to ski. We visit every summer now as well, at Talfest time in August. It's just as beautiful in summer and you have more time to appreciate the scenery. We were in the ''red" ski school for 4 years and they are fab. Hansi was our instructor in our 3rd year and we are good friends with him now. We have met so many people here over the years who are repeat visitors. Welcome to the Niederau Appreciation Club (we are home 3 weeks, go again in 3)

Another thing, we worried when we went back for the first time that it wouldn't be as good....but it was, just different and every time we go back, that's always how we feel. It's the same when we go in summer, it's always different but equally as brilliant. Always a wrench to leave the place....we even own lederhosen and drindl for god's sake lol ❄️

Hear hear for the Niederau appreciation society!! the people make the place, and the skiing' pretty good too, despite what others may say. I also learnt to ski with the Reds, and can't fault them :-)
