If the insurance will only cover Mrs H then absolutely you should go, i'm sure she'll understand....in fact come to think of it, you should go regardless, there's only a limited number of weeks we in this country get to ski :)
p.s. fingers crossed her toe heals in time (see what I did there....toe...heals :) )

I'll get my coat.....
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

Oh no Tony that's awful. I really feel your pain (well yours wife's really). I would wait a little longer before making a decision. The very worse thing would be to cancel and then find she is ok to go. I'm sure insurance would cover you as well as you wouldn't expect your partner to go on hols without you. After missing our trip last Jan I'm getting a bit jittery myself about going. Wishing Mrs H a very sppedy recovery.

Perhaps you can buy her a sledge?

But in all seriousness, sorry to hear of your predicament. I do hope she recovers enough to go on the hol and enjoy it.
If it was me I would be devastated. Ski hols mean more to me than any any type of hol so a scenario like yours would provide a real predicament (ski hol, divorce, divorce, ski hol, hmmmmmm).

Good luck.

Thanks guys.
Mrs h has changed from saying she's defo not going and neither should I, to going full circle and saying she will go come what may, read a book, etc.
In my heart of hearts I know she wouldn't want to go on ski holiday and not ski, I certainly wouldn't.
The other 6 will go come what may,I will not have any other option there, but if she is unfit to go my dilemma will become to worrying about me instead of her. Joking aside, I'd hate to miss a trip, but I'd also hate to think of her sat at home feeling miserable.
Anyway, it's given me some things to think about.

The interesting one is insurance, ally saying about informing them if your health changes. With a break surely your health only changes once the doctor says YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SKI which will be 23 December if it's going to happen.....

Anyway. Fingers and toes crossed.

I broke my toe last winter and skiied a week later. Getting my foot into the boot was fun but once in, it was fine. Wasn't a bad break though.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Tony

Very sorry to hear about Mrs H. Hopefully, she will make a quick and full recovery and you will be able to get away as planned.

Just one thought: if it is still 8 weeks out, you may not be fully committed financially to all costs of the holiday so insurers might not want to cover some of the costs if you pull out later having paid for everything :evil:

Hope it all works out. In the meantime, I think you should definitely look for another trip later in the season. Even if it works out as a bonus week, I am sure you will cope :mrgreen:

Tony, obviously I don't know what your insurance policy says, but mine is quite clear about this. It's in writing and they also confirmed it on the phone. This is what mine (annual snowsports insurance from the Ski Club of GB) says:

You should call medical screening service on *** if:

• you need to declare a medical condition;
• you develop a medical condition after your policy was issued;
• your existing condition changes after your policy was issued;
• you are unsure whether a medical condition needs to be declared or not.
The confidential helpline will be able to confirm if cover can be provided for your medical condition(s). If we are able to cover your medical conditions(s), an additional premium may be payable. If you need to make a claim arising from a medical condition that has not been declared and accepted by us, it is unlikely that your claim will be paid.
Each person insured by us would still be covered for any unrelated medical condition(s) and other sections of cover subject to the terms and conditions of this policy.
2 You will not be covered
a if you travel against the advice of a doctor
