Impossible to generalise but if I had to rank them.

Food-wise; Italy top of the heap, Austria not far behind. France\Switzerland tied for last place.

For coffee. Italy miles in front. Austria\France\Switzerland tied for last place.

For cheap quaffing wine. Italy then France then Switzerland\Austria in last place.

Top-shelf wine. France by some way. Then Italy\Austria. Switzerland has some great wines but bonkers prices.

Beer. Austria by a mile. Then Italy (thanks to Peroni). France an honorable third thanks to 1664. As for Switzerland; anyone for Feldschlossen?

For skiing they are all pretty good.

Yes you should go to Austria.
It's a different experience to enjoy. Different culture without doubt. The Austrians are more Germanic in that they like to party.
The quality of food, like in France and elsewhere varies but overall it is as good as France. Unlike the French they don't feel compelled to tell you how good their food is. (I would opine that the French opinion of others food is perhaps stuck in the post WWII austerity era)

It's a holiday after all and I certainly take the view that the world has too many different experiences to restrict holidays to one country or one resort. From what I've been told by those who have been, Bulgaria may not be top of my list for now!

Austrians have a different style of kitschy music, and a different style of skiing than the French. You still see the old wedeln style on the pistes. For a great example of both the style of music and the wedeln style of skiing, check out this video by Hansi Hinterseer. The words say 'everyone one loves someone who can wedeln in rhythm'

If you ski (or sing) that way people will think you are Austrian…

I supose the smell of garlic used to be an issue in france with men and women …. but these days we normally eat lots of garlic so we don't notice anymore and apart from some dodgy skiwear I have not seen any leather shorts

Ah. Don't have the Austrian style of singing, probably.
