I'm not hitting the panic button just yet. still a month to go but we've booked hotel, flight and parking. just the train from Zurich to do.
Web cams in St Anton make for rather bleak viewing.

10 days to potential extreme disappointment for me. Would Crystal just ship us in and say tough if the resort and neighbouring alternatives don't open?
Already vowing to avoid the resort in future and Crystal would get the elbow too if they dump me in a closed resort.
As I remember last December Gastein was fully open with great conditions in December and when I turned up in mid January it was extremely threadbare. Should have learned a lesson there.

Just found this in the Telegraph. Crystal have been moving customers to open resorts and others have had a refund.
Marion Telsnig, head of PR at Crystal Ski, said the tour operator has no customers flying out to France until next week but guests heading out to St Anton in Austria, which has limited slopes due to open this weekend, were being offered a switch to Obergurgl, which has 80cm snow base on its highest pistes.
"We are looking at the forecasts, and we still have a week, so hopefully it should be ok," she added.
A spokesperson for Inghams and Esprit Holidays said guests will not be travelling to the French resorts until next week.
As a result of Méribel, Courchevel and Les Menuires' delayed opening, Element Ski Travel issued full refunds to 20 guests who booked early season holidays for next week and the week after under the tour operator's Snowsure Guarantee offer. The refunds were trigged by less than 50 per cent of the Trois Vallées' lifts being open - as it stands, only some of Val Thorens and nearby Orelle are open.
Company director Linley Lewis said: "We understand that booking early December ski holidays can be a bit of a gamble so we wanted to put our customers' minds at rest and assure them they wouldn't havr to part with any money unless they were happy with the snow conditions in resort."

There seems to be snow on its way so fingers crossed for those going in December.

i am optimistic St Anton will deliver the goods by the 28th Dec but if not i guess i could go somewhere else with snow and try to grab a cheap deal. i fly into Zurich on the 27th so the only thing that ties me to St Anton is the Hotel and i would just write that off as bad luck. i Ski in Australia so that's not going to be a first for sure.

How optimistic would you be if you were arriving on the 20th??? Starting to think I might be better off taking a mountain bike...
Is it true that crystal are moving people to other resorts?
