And the other thing we need info on and may have to be researched is TOILETS !!!!

In cold weather a "comfort break" becomes essential for some.
and knowing which lift stations have toilets and which restaurants have open loos (and not 2 euros for a wizzle) is absolutely vital information.

I shall leave this to you as you are so organised, just publish the list at your convenience.

Toilets are marked on the piste map, but it doesn't say whether you have to pay for them. And what I can't understand, is that some of the restaurants aren't marked as having toilets - but I'm sure they do.

When I was in the Panoramic, by the Grande Motte glacier, in October a couple of years ago you could see that during the main season you would have to pay for the toilets because they had the booth there for someone to sit and collect the money. When I was there they'd just economized by shutting the ladies and making us use the mens, which was slightly embarassing!

They have toilets marked at the top of the 'funival' from La Daille, and at the top and bottom of the 'Olympique' cable car from Val d'Isere. And there are also toilets marked at the bottom of the funicular up to the Grand Motte.

I'm sure there are free toilets in the 'Maison de Tignes' where the tourist information office etc. is in Le Lac.

Andy - how many toilets are you likely to need?

I usually have the opposite problem - trying to drink enough to stop myself becoming dehydrated!

Here is the list again, of the 9 restaurants we are planning on 'researching' on the first Sunday (not in the order we're going to visit them) - does anyone happen to know/remember whether you have to pay to go to the toilet in any of them?

1. Le Palet - top of the Tichot chair above Val Claret.

2. Le Panoramic - top of the funicular from Val Claret to the Grande Motte glacier.

3. Le Bar de L'Ouillette - at the bottom of the Madeleine piste, on the Solaise above Val d'Isere.

4. The Alpage/Soli - at the top of the Chaudannes lift above Le Lac, and the closest mountain restaurant to les Brevieres.

5. Les Clochetons - at the bottom of the Santons piste, just before you get into the Val d'Isere village.

6. Le Signal - at the top of the Fornet cable car in Val d'Isere.

7. Le Triffolet - lowest restaurant above La Daille, by the OK and Criterium pistes etc.

8. The Edelweiss - on the blue Manguard piste above Le Fornet.

9. La Folie Douce/La Fruitiere - at the top of the cable car up from La Daille.

I suppose once we've checked them out we could also make notes on this, as well as the quality of the food etc.

ermmmmm...........
Ally - my toilet thread was slightly tongue in cheek!!
Please don't spend time on this.
Unless, of course, it is helping you avoid commitments.

In that case let me know and I will provide other researchable needs for you to complete.

Andy - really? I'm quite interested in which of the mountain restaurants charge you to use their toilets, because it really annoys me

I mean, you have to pay a fortune for a hot chocolate or whatever, and then naturally you need the toilet after that, and you have to pay again

I think the whole toilet debate is just a case of, "don't eat yellow snow." When you've got to go, you've got to go!

Behind a tree obviously!!

Oh and it looks as though I could well be coming out to Tignes on 12th Jan, so may see you all there!! :D

Two points .....
1 - Not many trees in Tignes.
2 - You brave soul!
