Did you take any footage in 1080p, and does the reduced frame rate make any difference? I assume it will in slow motion, but wasn't sure about normal play back.
If you shoot in 1080p then the field of view is much less. i think its about 120 degrees vs 170 at 720p
720p is good enough for most applications now.
Cheers

I have been looking at the Go pro for some time, I'm still thinking as Tony's point where I could fix it for best results .... arm maybe, chest Mmmmm no, helmet is a no go, pole I think I'd rather hold it, boot is a possibility.. I am open to ideas ????

The Ski?
I'm genuinely thinking about this. The only problem being my ski's have a rough finish (on top obviously) and am not sure if the adhesive will hold.

Im sure it will, the sticky pads are quite thick and very strong.
For skiing, the best positions would be:
Pole
Head
chest
Boot
Ski front
ski back
pole vertical from backpack (like google street view cams)
second person.
wrist mount
Ian, all positions look a bit crap if you are trying to look cool.
My intention was to do the same run multiple times and with different mounting positions and the edit it all together, somehow i never really got around to it.
Heres a ski mounted clip that gets real boring after a min, i think the key is to mix it up.
You can always just hand hold it and film other people the way you do with a traditional cam but with the added assurance that if you drop it in the snow it isn't going to be ruined.

You are right about mixing it up, too long from one angle gets boring quite quickly, no matter where you mount the camera.

First point .... don't watch too many vids all the way through because of the over production eg Music, I just think you lose all the atmosphere of a family ski holiday. Don't take that personally everbody seems to add music to their vids at the mo .... I guess apple have a lot to answer for
I did used to add music during the editing process but I decided to go back to basics and even then it was background as I do like to do a bit of chating on my vids.
Now I know you said the ski mounting vid was boring after a couple of mins but I watched that all the way through.
Second point .... I have never worried about "Cool" how can I, I use a hand held video Camera.... Not very cool.
Third point .... after watching the vids I can see that there can be a fair amount of editing required as the camera is fixed as opposed to getting a wider sweep angle with a hand held.
What I have to decide is wether it is a nice to have or a must have... and is it gonna add quality
to my holiday movie ... on that I'm undecided at the moment.
At £300 I could put that money towards a decent new HD vid cam
