Hi dan_ski,
I think Bandit was possibly responding to this part of your original post:

dan_ski wrote:If you are considering coming for some late-season skiing in Switzerland, either plan for some limited spring skiing on the Saas-Fee glacier or at Andermatt.

I imagine she was simply pointing out that Grimentz still had some good snow. This is a discussion forum, where we can all chip in and add our bit, otherwise it would only be you carrying out a monologue with yourself. I don't think Bandit's posts were off-topic (wibble), and neither do I think she's hi-jacked your thread.

But thank you very much for your posts :D

It is nice to hear from people who live in the region and can tell us about ski conditions in their local area. It is much appreciated. Otherwise we have to rely on official snow reports and webcams (which as others have already said can be quite misleading) and the reports we get back from fellow j2skiers after they return from holiday.

Everyone should be forced to learn how to ride ice, slush, grass and rock as part of their rite of passage. You never know when you'll need it. In the last 4 weeks I have surfed down the Ahorn in Mayrhofen, carved good glacier on the Hintertux, ridden big powder in Zermatt and vibrated my kidneys to death on the bumps in Chamonix (today). My season isn't over yet :-)

Point being, the mountains are changeable places. Anyone who expects 30cm of powder and blue sky everyday should chose another holiday, and anyone who takes the word of 1 single affiliated website in this day of the Internet shouldn't be allowed holidays at all.

Last 4 weeks??? I had skied 4 different conditions in 4 hours of skiing yesterday:) Ice on groomers first thing in the morning with some pretty awful frozen crud off-piste, followed by some monstrous bumps that I had to ski to get to nice powder, followed by a very degraded run down - some slush over rock and mud. Really nothing to do on slopes anymore after 1-2pm, but bearing in mind it's mid-April, there is still lot of fun to have in the mornings + a nice suntan as a bonus!
