Pete I mightve got myself carried away - looking at the forecast yesterday it said sleet/snow for tues/wed/thurs and as Im going on sunday anything snowlike with low temps is better than what they had a couple of weeks ago when the resort was shut Ill take anything white even if a dusting!! looking at the forecast today it says sleet all nxt week which might not be so good as sleet will melt the snow on the pistes wont it? Anyway Im trying to be really positive and will the snow to arrive in a huge great big dump on every night next week - it can be sunny in the day if it wishes bot snow all night snowdancing all the time might also help!

Ah, so by more interesting the week after you mean the week that I arrive. I hope that means lots of snow!

In your opion do you think we will be alright at Les Gets as far as snow goes. You see we've hired a great big Gig Bus and it's costing us a pretty penny. Don't fancy wasting all that money and having a rubbish time!

yes loads of squigly lines for Pete's week - for your info Pete its bound to mean loads of snow I mean with my luck you'll get a metre of snow every night and perfect sunny (cold) days to ski in. Blooming great I just hope the predicted sleet for nxt week is snow really and that the temps get just a tad bit colder next week than predicted either way Im determined to enjoy it even if it means Ill have to drink a few more Vin Chaud than I had anticipated! Heres hoping we both have a great holiday and the snow buckets it down for the next 2 weeks. :-)

Pete - I'd wait and see what happens with the snow. On-line lift pass sales are currently suspended until 9th February anyway (due to conditions). I was in Les Gets for 2 weeks from 14th January, which included the period of time when it was shut. Until it shut, Sagets decided the rate for lift passes on a daily basis :(

We went to Avoriaz every day & bought passes there. A PDS pass would have only been useful on my last day when skiing beyond Avoriaz was possible. If you still haven't done all there is to do in Les Gets & Morzine, then a local pass will keep you occupied for a week, particularly if you are skiing with a mixed ability or family group and the snow is good.

If the snow isn't good, you may wish to go to Avoriaz (own transport or bus) & buy a pass for there. I'd only get a PDS pass if the snow is good & you intend to make the most of it & get up early & get to Avoriaz & beyond. Skiing to Morzine, getting across town & up to Avoriaz all takes time. That's OK if you don't have to stop for little ones or slower skiers. If you do, then I'd get to the Ardent car park first thing in the morning (20 mins drive from Les Gets) & up to Avoriaz that way. To be honest, Chatel is a better base for giving you access to the PDS. We stayed there in Jan last year & had fantastic conditions & made full use of a PDS pass. The previous year, we had fantastic conditions in Les Gets & never felt the need to go beyond the local area. Decisions, decisions....the choice is yours! The Les Gets lift pass office is open every day from 8.30am - 5.00pm if you leave it until you get there.

It's hard not to get stressed when you've worked hard, saved hard & booked the holiday you've looked forward to for months. I didn't eat or sleep for a week before I went because of the rapidly deteriorating conditions - & we still had an excellent holiday & skied on all but one day (when it poured with rain). The forecasts for February are certainly looking more promising so I hope you have a fab time. I'll be very jealous when it starts to dump with snow :?

Is there a medical term for people who spend hours fruitlessly searching the web for forecasts which predict snow? If such an illness exists - then I've got it ..... but I'm sure I'm not the only one!!! :-)
The plan is.... there's no plan!

Thanks for your reply! I think I'll take your advise and wait a few more days. I want to buy them online and get them delivered to my hotel to save the hassle. After the drive I guess I'll be pretty tired to say th least.....

I have searched the net and there is a designated illness for people with our condition its called "forescastitous"....

I beleive that truly bad sufferers not only have the illness in the winter months seraching for snow but also in the summer months looking for sun. I guess that means I'm a critical case.
