Nope,i guess it could go on the tick list, but it's a bit of a hike for a long ski weekend !

5 hour drive for me, nice to leave at 1 am Friday Morning and get 2.5 days in during the season. It can be pretty good, it can be pretty awful but its white and downhill and that's what matters

They appear to have given up in La Rosiere this morning. Snow cannons aren't working and the lift staff/pister people have disappeared from the webcams.

(PS - I've skied in New South Wales - Thredbo, Perisher and Mount Blue Cow!)

Just to cheer you up Whistler is having the worst start to season in living memory, very mild. Apparently great drinking weather.

Europe is doing fine, only 8 days to go until 2nd trip of season (shock horror first one I didn't get to ski), few days on piste will do everyone's technique some good. Who knows what the weather will bring but we should try and avoid being that brat kid incessantly asking for something. Yes Brits and Australians are the worlds famous moaners but is ultimately bad manners. In six months where can I sign up to listen to similar concerns about summer holiday being too hot?

So I leave you with some +ve thoughts for anyone heading from the UK or Australia
Better wine
Drinkable coffee
Edible bread
Improved food in general
Less English people moaning about weather although they are likely to be most vocal so difficult to completely block out.
Less poisonous things
Less likely to get sunburnt/sun cancer; panda eyes are a possibility.

If no snow comes alternate activities are. Walking, talking (skiing is actually a great way to spend long hours in company of people with minimal conversation, very popular with married couples or those with kids), sledging, generally enjoying outdoors. Take a computer console away from a kid and they revert to enjoying simple pleasures in life. Take snow away from a skier and they appreciate the mountains, the town and the people. Swap you ski lesson for a language lesson, cooking lesson etc etc.

And finally the weather Gods care if you dropped some money on flights. They didn't send out bank details so the bribe was never received. Fortunately I was both a good boy and sent a letter to Santa, so anyone heading to Chamonix is more than welcome to join for both the skiing and the simple pleasures of a great town from the 21st.

I really like Thredbo, love the village feel. Perisher is a little sterile for me

Ok France is a great place to ski,and in some but not allcases to eat. I do however find that a high percentage of restaurants and bars are very low on the hygiene side of things compared to Austria. There also up there with the S.Africans in the obnoxious department.

I think i'll stay at home or go to Australia....!
