Hi All,

With Ryanair taking the P*** out of it's passengers with ever increasing hidden costs and scams ( although I do accept and recognise all businesses have a right to make whatever money it/they like/s) ,it's about time they realised that there is an honest upfront way to do business which if done propperly would achieve the same end result.

So if the 35,000 members of this site refuse to use Ryanair this season and use another carrier ,thats a painfull financial lesson for Mr Oleary....whether he would care is another matter...I will not now or ever use Ryanair....who's with me???

Hmmm, I'm not certain that Ryanair has any hidden costs, could you highlight them, and how they are hidden from buyers. I've flown Ryanair in the last 12 months and had no problems with hidden costs. I got stuffed at the airport for overweight baggage which is a different matter. It sells it's available services separately, which suits some people more than others. It tends to suit holidaymaker skiers, not at all. Bums on seats with holdalls in the o/h's and fast turnaraounds, continue to work for him, so why change.

As for MOL caring, I suspect not at all, though he may just take up the advertising banner space at the bottom of this page on J2ski, for fun )

Hi,

Maybe Hidden Costs was not the best description I could have put, what i am trying to get at is that rather than say the flight is only x amount.....but when you've booked end up with a significantly larger amount as they bank on you needing luxuries such as spare clothing etc ( luggage) why don't they just be up front and put the real or a more appropriate price on the flight....or am i just being daft? :D :D

Yes, I know where you are coming from (I think). As a customer of the airline, it was quite plain to see that most of the cost of my flight was made up of taxes going to two different Gov'ts and airport landing fees, in the UK the APD comes courtesy of Gordon the Grabber, the latter the result of some vicious bargaining by MOL.
The Ryanair strategy is to attract passengers with no luggage, and the pricing structure reflects this, so I believe that skiers will be put off without any action on their part.
If I buy a ticket with another airline and don't need hold space for a suitcase, I don't get a reduction :( Perhaps Menu pricing is the way forward?

Thieves, I will not use them until they return my €50 plus the interest, supply a written apology, and give me free tickets for a year, plus change their name to "Fly Wickers"

I dont understand all the fuss. Once you have gone through their website, they do actually give you a total price to pay. If you dont like the price, dont book the flight. Simple. How people can claim to have been caught out by hidden extras is beyond me if you now how to use the internet.

Personally, I have only used them once for a ski trip when I hired skis in resort and the flight actually did cost £40 all in, but that was back in 2006.
I wouldn't choose to fly Ryanair for a skiing holiday, not just because of the fact that they advertise 1p or whatever flights and when you add in bags, check in, skis etc it comes to more like £150 plus, but becasue I dont like not having reclining seats, or having to fight to get a decent seat on the place, or not having a storage area in the back of the seat in front of you, or being limited to 15kg of luggage....
My ski holidays tend to involve charter flights which allow me 20kg of luggage, more reasonable ski carriage prices, and a seat number so I dont feel the need to stand in a queue for the gate to open in order to have some kind of choice of seats, thus allowing me to spend more time relaxing at the airport and perhaps having a meal or drinks.

I think the days of Ryanair being dirt cheap are well and truly over. You pays your money and takes your choice.

my misgivings are nothing to do with cost, more with attitude and policies
