Flying out to Salzburg on Saturday with Thomson. I have my own boots and have always found it easier to hire skis when I arrive. I have always found in the past that as long as my total allowance was within the limit that I could put a holdhall and boot bag in the hold, and just carry on hand luggage. With the tighter security limiting to one item in the hold, maximum weight 20kg, hand luggage up to 10 kg as long as your combined holdhall/cabin weight does not exceed 25kgs.
Has anyone flown with them recently and if so can you get a boot bag in the overhead cabin storage, I fear it might be a bit tight!! As a general rule I have found they do not normally weigh hand luggage or are thet getting stricter. Life gets so complicated!!!

You may not allow to take ski boot on as hand luggage, i have been in a situation when I had to go back and send my hand luggage into the boot.
A few years ago while coming home with a gf she took her high heeled shoes off and was told she could not carry her shoes on board the plane and had to either send them to the hold or put them on

I phoned Crystal the other day to book my lift passes for Schladming(£30 cheaper than in resort) and whilst i was on hold i had to listen to a message saying that boots must be in your one piece of hold luggage whilst on Thomson flights. :(
Its gonna be a nightmare for my Mrs to get all her stuff in 20kilos of allowance including boots! She NEVER travels light! :roll:

We're flying to Saltzburg with Thomson on Saturday too.
My boots are gonna be packed in my hold luggage, as most people on this forum recommend.
They weigh 5kg ... so that's a quarter of the allowance gone already.

I've broke the news to my mates who are travelling. Not happy bunnies!! Just as well we are not taking hair dryers and flat irons. Well I hope we are not.

Indeed, Ian. Jeans on flight and will be worn every evening. A few t-shirts and a jumper will suffice for getting drunk in the evening.
Apres ski is not exactly high fashion (at least not outside St Anton and St Moritz)
And my Sorels will be on my feet for flying.

I rung thompson air on Saturday to ask about the luggage allowance as Inghams says its a max of 20KG on there E-Ticket.
Thompson Air check in told me that i could put 20kg in my suitcase & carry on 5kg as hand luggage, it was an extra £7.50 per kilo over each way.
I also told them that i have paid for ski carrige & asked them what the weight limit was & they told me 15kg (although it does say on there website it's only for 1 pair of skis, boots & poles)
