Hate skiing!!

Maybe not quite, but to get your attention :)

We all post about how much we love skiing, come back and know we have had a great time...

But for me it is not all passionate love...I do have some hates. I hate queue up in the Fri night or worse Sat am to pick up rented equipment. The shop is always hot, I am always so hot I am about to expire and start getting a sense of humour failure. Then I have to carry 2 x ski and poles and 1x boot!! By the time I get back I need plenty of beer.

But then the skiing starts and it is all forgotten until next time ;)

I had trouble thinking of any others, is there any? Apart from going home :(

The journey up the hill, winding roads make me feel sick. But worth it

I do hate the boot fitting (hence buying own boots) the amount of times I used to go back and forth to the ski hire shop and once in Saalbach-Hinterglemm the stupid boot fitting man had no more in my size (size 7) so have me a 10!! Worst (and most dangerous!) day's skiing ever (and it was blue sky, sunshine, fluffy powder!)

I also hate people who want their skis to match their ski gear! Oh for goodness sake.....!!

Why not pre book your ski equipment on line before you get there. That will save alot of time on paperwork and its usually alot cheaper. I appreciate you have to fitted with boots if you do not have your own.
Packing on Friday knowing that your yearly trip is all but over!! :-(

Always do prebook, but I got Mr Dozey of Saalbach! This year we have pre-booked via a shop in Alpbach, had a look at Crystal's prices, then Ski Set and then found Conny's Hire Shop, even cheaper! - and have them recommended to us!

It is always such a cattle market getting stuff sorted....!

There are lots of things I hate about ski-ing :wink:

1. Worrying I'm going to get ill or hurt myself so I won't be able to go.

2. Trying to get all the work done at home so that I can get away for a week.

3. Trying to earn enough money so that I can afford the ski holiday. The last couple of ski holidays have cost me about £1100 per head including transport, accommodation, ski hire, lift passes, and lessons.

4. Worrying I've forgotten some vital piece of paper - like my insurance details or the receipt for the lift passes, or that my passport has gone out of date and I haven't noticed.

5. Worrying that something has gone wrong with the booking system and when I get there they won't have an apartment for us.

6. Worrying that I've forgotten how to ski and I'm going to get chucked out of my lessons and put in the beginners classes.

7. Worrying that one of us is going to get lost or hurt on the mountain.

8. Worrying that my glasses are going to steam up and I won't be able to see where I'm going.

9. Worrying that I'm going to be too fat to get my salopettes on.

10. Worrying that I'm going to make a mess of getting off the chair lift and knock the other 5 people on the chair lift over.

11. Worrying that there will be loads of snow and I'm going to have to ski in deep powder and I'll fall over and get lost/hurt/look a total idiot.

In fact - looking at that long list I don't think I'm going to bother booking another ski holiday :wink:
