Hi all , Im going out to Soll on 6th March.I just wanted some info on ski length . I was given a new set of Solomon X wing 6 (170cm) for my birthday last year.Having not had the chance to use them yet im a bit unsure if they are ok for me after reading articles on the correct length etc . They were bought at a local ski shop in Yarm which has quite a good rep.I have been skiing twice before Italy and Bulgaria which was Quite good )and went to ski school on both trips . I like to think that i have improved a great deal and was doing reds no problem and a few blacks, not great but getting down safely. The thing that concerns me most is my size , Im 6'4 and weigh almost 18 stone, not fat Honestly just big ) All this was explained to the guy in the shop . Just looking for some reasurance really . Don't want my trip ruined by having the wrong size skis .
Many thanks

Yes, they will be very easy to turn, however you are tall and heavy, so the ski may feel quite twitchy as you will exert a lot of pressure on the ski under the boot.
I can't see them performing too well for you in that length. If you want to ski a short ski, then I think you will need to choose a stiffer ski to cope with your stats.

They do seem a bit short for you. Can you swap them for a longer pair?

Bugger  ! Not sure, they were bought by my then girlfriend at the time not sure she will have the receipt or even how much she paid for them . Its worth going back tho and asking . the annoying thing i have had them since last may tucked away in a wardrobe and never gave it a thought until the last couple of days .
Thanks, Peter

Too short definitely. I am 5 foot 8 and ski on 166 Scott Neo's and they are the length I like, but I was told to ski them in 176, which I felt were too long personally.
