Am going to morzine early jan and have been examining every thread and forum relating to snowfall. Looking at the current weather i too was a bit concerned but after a bit o research it looks like there is a pattern to there being heavy dumps in december. Mark cuts it bout right statinig that the weather changes v. quickly up there and that by jan i feel happy in the knowledge that the snow will be a plenty.

If there's a lack of snow in February, there'll be no snow anywhere in Europe. You'll be fine, as every February skier has been since skiing was invented.

Not quite true dorsetboy. I can remember 3 or 4 years of closed slopes in February. It happens.

I'm curious to discover where and roughly when Pete?
Closed due to too much snow in Feb, but not enough in the main alpine areas above say 1400m in France?

Les Gets has cannons anyway, even if the worst happens and it all melts ;)

We went to Les Gets at the end of March 2008 and it was fantastic - can thoroughly recommend BASS for kids ski lessons :)

Les Gets January 23rd 2006 - same slope from above :D

It just goes to show how different each year can be! 2007 was the worst year by far in my skiing memory. Even though we couldn't ski in Les gets in 2007, we went to Avoriaz every day. We were able to claim for 'piste closure' off our insurance which softened the blow a bit!
