Wrong. I have snapped a couple pairs of expensive Scott aluminium poles. I have found that the cheap ones are just as good.

She will be happy if they look nice, most intermediates wouldn't come close to breaking a pole.

I'll give you some irony, me commenting on ski pole selection :wink:

The strap can make a huge difference to how easy and comfortable, a ski pole is to use. Flimsy straps seem to get twisted and are awkward to get your glove through. A sturdy strap with a pad on it, is easy to set glove in properly, is more comfortable to use, and seems to give a more solid grip on the pole. It does mean that you have left and right poles, but that is easy to deal with.

What poles do you use Trencher? I keep going back to Scott because I like the straps after a brief period with rental poles and old school poles 8)
