Can imagine very family freindly too. Not the cheapest resort to visit however, 2Alps usually cheaper in fact.
Jennysampson - do you have a Chalet in Serre Che then?

Tony - not sure if my wife would be willing to take the kids out of school, although I am very tempted. As you say almost half the cost and quiter slopes into the bargain!
For the poster whoh asked - there are 4 of us. Two adults and two kids aged 6 and 10.

Once they get to 14 or so, then you need to perhaps rethink, because of the importance of exams, and also make sure you dont go when they might be having internal exams either.
It may go down as an unauthorised absence in this mad world we now live in, where people are no longer encouraged to make individual choices, but my 2 are both going to Uni and we took them out of school both to ski in winter and to have a cheaper family holiday in the warmer months, so it hasnt dont them any harm.
I bet your wife will be tempted when you show her the potential savings you could make!

TonyH you're so right.
I'm taking my son out the week before the offical Easter holiday for his school. It's saving about 60% of the total cost.
Yes - it will be classed as unauthorised leave, by all concerned. Just hope I don't get a call from social services!!!!!!
I was taken on regular overseas holidays as a kid and suffer no ill effects. In fact I think I benefited as I am earning alot more than the teachers/LEA officals making such judgements on my parenting skills. )
Until kids are studying for 'real' exams - let them have some fun..... Good knows when they will have the time / money to do so in early adult life!

Scotland is a skiing nation. There are no school hoiday breaks between New Year and Easter. We just used to take the lads out of school, at least until their exam years.
In addition to the ski skills learned, (perhaps too many, they both fondly imagine they are quicker than the old man), they did practice German and French, and in La Thuille, the wonderful lady in the bakers shop, would not serve them, unless they asked in Italian.
If I did this now, I would probably have gained a criminal record.

Younger kids are not going to lose out because they miss a week of school. Just ring up on the first day of the holiday and say they're ill, and do the same half way through the week!!!
