What you do in 6th form matters less, it is your final year.
It is even worse for the teachers here, who are forced to pay triple prices at New Year.
And of course, for their friends that go with them.

only young and naive teachers chose to take trips with the pupils, most school trips struggle to find teachers who are prepared to accompany them

no, it's just teachers have lifes as well and want to do their own thing. Some younger teachers without other commitments will go on trips but not older ones. Fear of litigation is greatly overstated.

I think that they'll learn more from a week on the slopes speaking french and generally having fun than they would at school anyway.
I think my wife's hesitancy points back to Easter when we took the kids to Jamaica for 3 weeks. We had to have 2 days off school to fit 3 weeks in. We got letters home and all sorts. Tell me that the kids would have done any work in those last 2 days of term? I doubt it!

Most teachers don't ski. Of those that ski, a fraction go on school trips. As Ise says, they have their own lives. It isn't like you to overstate Tony!
Five years ago, I helped the Alpinger bring a 14 year old English lad down the slopes, he had a potential back injury. When he was being loaded into the Ambulance, I suggested to the accompanying teachers that one of them might go into the ambulance. Reluctantly, one agreed. I gave the teacher some info about getting back to Niederau from the hospital, and, as an afterthought, asked him if he knew the name of his accomodation. It was the first day's skiing, and he didn't. Quick consultation with colleagues!
