Tom, do you get a deal from K2? If you are free to look around at other makes then do some research to get the performance profile you want and get testing. K2's just seem heavy these days. Some folks like heavy skis (hands up all Metron owners).
For a light, nimble AM ski I suggest the Movement Yaka or Yaka Jam (bit fatter). I do think you have to go longer unless you go for a slalom ski.

Something light as mentioned by Bandit may be a good move for you. Any shorter than 180 and I think you would be looking for more length as you improve, a shorter ski will probably hold you back. Even the Atomic Nomad Crimson could be worth looking at.. the nomads are very very light skis.

Ross, good call  I'm hoping to get my paws on some Nomad Crimson's for a test session in November. There is some serious competition out there in the same performance bracket though.

Bandit, Ross
Once again, much obliged with the advice. I aman Advanced getting towards expert (eventually!!!) skierI have just found that with getting a bit older (even at 25 my legs are starting to give in, I blame the rugby I play!) and dare i say, heavier I have found it harder and harder to haul my tips across anything other than piste and the odd venture into the deep stuff. My PE's float well enough and park wise i did my first 360 on them so Im kinda sentimental lol.

Bandit, interestingly I was looking at the movement skis. Namely the 04/08 Flame, to similar to the PE? I dont know. I dont have a deal with K2, just kinda always stuck with them but you are right they are getting heavier, good for blasting through crudge I know but as I said, my bodies a crumbling mess and i need somethinga bit more nimble.

Ross, will have a look at the nomads. What about the K2 Recons? a bit pricey maybe?

If you feel attached to K2's you have a really evocative choice this winter as they have reintroduced the Extreme, keeping the original paint styling 8)
We have some of the original one's in our garage, purchased new :D

Recons....join a weightlifting gym )

I have not tried PE's, however I was close to purchasing Movement Demon Flame's a few years ago, and the Flame is similar in performance. It was a close call between the Movement's and Stockli Stormrider AT's. The Stockli's won the day as I found them more nimble to use.

So many skis....so little time 8)

Tom, they are heavy. The Atomics remain some of the lightest skis in their class. The Blackeye will probably be a bit soft for you but a 183 Crimson could work. If you are looking for some extra stiffness the Crimson Ti would do the trick.
