I have a quandry. I currently own 07/08 K2 Public Enemys. Very good park shis and happy cruising on piste aswell. However, I find them a bit heavy and cumbersome in the soft pow and when I need some responsiveness so I have decided to buy some of the K2 Silencers with a thinner waist etc.
Now, I usually ski 169cm's - Im 6'1 and abour 15 1/2 stone. Is there any benefit in me getting 159cm's so that I can get quicker turns in??? And if so are there any disadvantages on the shorter ski?
Thanks again guys and gals
Much luv

Silencers are not a powder ski. If you want response in the soft and deep you want a powder ski. Something went wrong somewhere if you are on 169 twins, I would have you on nothing less than a 180- even in the park.
Silencers are an uber soft ski and you being 15 stone would just crush them.
I'd reconsider your options seriously.

What weight are your bindings? What set up are you using currently?
Binding weight can make a huge difference.
I look at your stats and think that your current skis which IIRC are a TT, are a bit short. If you go shorter and narrower, you will need a stiff slalom ski IMHO.

We will have to agree to differ, as I find my Monster's pretty heavy to use off-piste with a Railflex setup. Fatigue sets in rather earlier than with my other skis. I would not buy a rail binding again on an AM ski.

Im not very eloquent and my semantics leave a little to be desired!! I meant that I use my PE's for the pow, they are wide enough round the waist but i need something thats not so heavy and quicker edge to edge for trees etc, doesnt necessarilly need to be deep pow.
My theory was that shorter skiis with a skinnier waist might be easier to manage. Generally was going to use the silencers as a All Mountain ski. Initially thats what I bout the PE's for but they are just to heavy to lug around the place.
Hmmmm - im confused now lol
