Technically we are still in an ice age,but i suspect the real reason for all the global warming miss-information from the G8 governments is because America's,Englands,Germany's,France economies are going to be put under extreme pressure from the emergence of growth in China and Africa in the next ten years. So if they can spread panic about the world ending because of fossil fuels etc,and mannage to get the use of these restricted in the most polluting countries (China especially) then this will hinder the Chinese economic growth). An example of the lies and mis-information about so called global warming-the picture in the papers of the two polar bears clinging to that small iceberg with the caption saying"Polar bears facing exrinction because all the ice is melting due to carbon emmissions",the people responsible for this picture and headline forgot conveniently to mention that it was taken in the middle of the summer!.
Also this is great way of raising taxes,if you can make the poeple scared, you can manipulate them!. :D

I'm pretty sure it happening, although we don't see very many changes yet.

Maikol i assume your theory is that all of this mixed up weather is down purely to what us humans are doing and the life styles we choose ??

If so and the answer is for us all to produce less carbon then I'm all for that but the bit I don't get and hopefully you can answer this is how come the planet has been through several ice ages so has warmed up and cooled down on its own long long before we were all here :?:

Wow! Someone has a little rage problem! Interesting how there are a bunch of ad hominem attacks, and nothing substantive. Also, what in the world is a "Catharina?" And "ever bigger cars with less miles to the gallon." Look around! The majority of cars are much smaller than they have ever been! And fuel economy is far better than the dream you hold of some utopian past.

I think the general consensus appears to be that this forum has no place for rants without substantial facts to support them. As Dean quite rightly points out, this planet has had more than one ice age / warming up period.

Maybe it was all that driving around in so called "gas guzzling 4x4" that brought on an ice age and killed the dinosaurs then :?:
I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

I'm genuinely baffled by this argument. That previous cooling and heating cycles have occurred is certainly true, but they've had different causes. In what way does that mean that a current warming cycle is not caused by or can be mitigated by human activity?

Neither might true, it might not be caused by nor can be mitigated by human activity, but the inference that since the last warming event wasn't caused by human activity then another one can't be is just broken logic.

Shouldn't you be out on the mountian before global warming does for the ski industry :?:

I agree that previous cooling down / warming up periods may not be down to the same cause, however, there is eveidence out there that would suggest that the politicians are getting it DRASTICALLY wrong, however as we all know politicians are never wrong but for those who prefer to get a balanced view read these

It would seem that whislt the sea-ice has been receding in the Arctic since 1978, it has been quietly growing in the Southern Ocean by 8% over the same period. Also Eats Antactica has been getting colder, all we need now is for some mountains to appear and we'll have a new skiing destination to visit :!:

Dinosaurs, now that's some myth made up by the evolutionist. We all know there's no real evidence for evoluton either. )
