Hi all. Me and a couple of others have just booked a skiing holiday in Borovets for next January. I know its a long time away i wanna get some of my clothes in this years sales. Could someone please help me out. I have been looking though the forum and found a topic on what people take away on a weeks skiing holiday. one thing i noticed was people take more then one coat. Should i?
I have never skied in my life and so dont really wanna spend to much money on clothes incase i never wanna ski again lol but on the other hand i really dont wanna be cold cos i wont enjoy it.
Is it best to buy expencive makes or will the cheaper ones just be as good?

First thing, glad you picked Bulgaria, great place for beginner skier.
Aldi and Lidl have very good ski wear. just keep an eye on websites for when the deals are coming, usually in late Nov early Dec You only one ski jacket!
This year I bought Dare2Be clothing. Cheap but very warm, and noticed alot of people wearing Dare2Be on the slopes this season.
TK Maxx also is another option!

thanks for the reply. Was told Bulgaria was a gd place for beginners. was in TK Maxx today and found an alright coat. I found a coat in Millets £50 reduced from £100. seemed a gd coat (but i know nothen about ski clothes) cant remember the make either. It was the last coat of that type so i am half tempted to buy it if it is still there. lol.
Why isit people take more then 1 coat? and also i forgot to ask my holiday has equipment included with the lessons. does that include googles or just the boots, skis & sticks?
Ill have to google Dare2Be in a mo. I know u get what you pay for so if i did go for the cheaper options am i likely to be freezing cold?

Sm, when it comes to clothing quality, maybe just apply common sense with regard to quality. One practical suggestion, and the reason why I reject 90% of jackets, is the adequate supply of pockets. Minimum two inners two outers.
Waterproof, windproof, breathable. Packaway hood. Forget the badge.

On pockets, good to have a lift pass pocket on your left sleeve, as you approach the lifts the scanners are always on your left.
I've worn Lidl jackets for €40 before and had no problem skiing in -18 degrees
You'll need to buy your own goggles. Ski rental is ski's, boots and poles. If you decide to buy a helmet make sure the helmet and goggles match.
My Dare2Be jacket and trousers was £80 for both.

Yh just had a look on the Dare2Be website. looks alright. helmet is something i never thought about. Do people ware helmets when beginners? or isit more for the people who are really gd and go on the more challenging pistes?
and ill have to have a look out of the left pocket.

Several good points there, ultan. On the sleeve lift pass pocket, although anywhere on the left hand side will do, from knees to shoulder, a benefit of using a lift pass pocket is that it will never be opened, and so the lift pass will not get lost. I use a chipped Swatch, but carry the pass as a back-up.
