Hi there

I am looking for travel insurance and was looking onthe direct travel website adn they have 3 levels of insurance.

On one of them (the platinum one) it covers you for damage to ski equipment. This was something I hadnt even factored. what happens if I damage ski equipment? Am I insured at the shop (which will be the one in Niderau (Margereiter) I mean, do I actually need insurance to cover equipment?

Sometimes hire shops offer insurance for their equipment, for example by brother in law last year was humming and haring over equipment insurance for his son, lucky for him he took it out because low and behold a broken pole on the second day. :D

Your Travel Insurance needs to cover hired kit, and your own kit if you have it. Check that the amount offered would be sufficient if someone stole the skis (worst case scenario) or buy the shops' own insurance. Do check for damage to hired kit before you leave the shop tho.

I lost a new test ski in a crevassed area in Zermatt in November. I got it back, because someone saw it and returned it, otherwise about a £500 bill. Not my fault, faulty binding brake, but the test centre would not have cared about that, only their losses.

I blew a toe piece of a binding on rentals and they refunded my rental for the days I was away with the skis and unable to use em. Ie 3 days rental from Milton Keynes being used in say, Neiderau.
