The main run off the mountain has a HUGE flat spot near the bottom. Its fine for fast skiers, but many skiers don't make it without poleing so I would imagine you boarders will get very pissed off with it.

I would just like to politely say this is bollox. I am a boarder and it is a total non-issue - it's not FLAT at all and not a problem. If you are a total beginner on Day 2 it could be an issue - but on that basis you would be on a button lift someplace!!

I would think that it is done to the amount of snow ..... in poor snow years the flats suddenly appear.

i am on snowblades and hardly ever find the "flat spots" at the bottom of red 19 run on route back to the resort. Never have had poles with my blades, you should be fine....

As a boarder we are used to dealing with stuff 10 times trickier than that area of the mountain. I'm actually still slightly unsure if we are talking about the same part 'cos it's a total non-event.

I cannot see how lack of snow is gonna change the topography of the mountain!!

Let me explain, there are flat spots on the mountain along the top or generally nearer the bottom, the piste bashes will build the snow up to counteract the flats, you can possible see this better in the summer. Have a closer look next time you're bombing around the piste?
