Thanks ise, though the coffee at Bendolla is 3.80 chf AFAIR ) . That makes your lunch approx £11.38 for those of us who use sterling as our main currency.
It does sound quite tasty though. Remind me to pick up a fork next time I have lunch with you :D
Zinal has cheaper coffee BTW :D
Switzerland is such good value, when compared to some alpine destinations.
Le Grand Bornand - a proper French village with great food, lovely people and decent skiing... 8)
Well hello big boy, Le Grand bornand

yesterday I had the excellent plat de jour at the Grimentz self service (roast pork in an apple sauce, haricot vertes in little bundles wrapped with a piece of bacon, Gratin Dauphinois and ratatouille) for 19.- chf. A coffee would be about 3.5 chf. The plat de jour is generally good value, a good meal and better value than sandwiches or snacks IMHO.

One tip I have picked up from Lapland forums, everywhere you go, around slopes, in woods, backs of slopes are wooden huts with a permanant fire going always with a kettle on and tosting forks by fire. Take some sarnies with you and when you get cold or hungry stop, warm up and toast your sarnies. A good money saver I think.

Sorry to be a dullard but whats LGB? I just goggled it and it came up as Lesbian,Gay and Bisexual. And unless this is some Gay Pride event on snow i havent heard of im sure i must have the wrong end of the stick.Ian Wickham wrote:bandit wrote:I quite often carry sandwiches to eat at lunchtime. Pays not to fall over too often before lunch
I guess my point is Bandit, I have never paid six quid for a beer and never will, I would normally eat a light lunch, sometimes bread, ham and cheese, sometimes a crepe so lunch for me has never been over the top. An evening favorite of mine Tarteflette would normally cost around 13 euro in the restaurants, the price increase this year to last due to the poor exchange rate would be three pounds. For me not the end of the world mainly because I choose to ski in a relatively cheap area, now I use that term "Cheap" very loosely.
What hit me more was the fuel prices driving down to Italy from the UK last summer, so my drive to LGB in a couple of weeks time should seem a lot cheaper.

I am not looking forward to filling my car at Euro prices later this month. We need a recovery of the £ pronto.
I shall be mostly cooking in the apartment during the evenings. Good job I like my own cooking :D

AUSTRIA You know it makes sense!!!
Serious note the only thing I have found consistantly expensive in Austria is the price of ski intructors!!
I have found you cannot take a really pretty blonde one out for an evening for less than 50Euros!!
Ski instruction is good but expensive
