I have a 15yr old son, is it compulsory for him to wear a safety helmet in Austria. I would like him to, he doesn't want to, so it would be easier if it was compulsory.

Tell him it is compulsory?

Helmets are cool now if you pick the right one...

I didn't wear a helmet until I hit my head hard enough on the snow to make it make sense in my mind.

Anyways, he's not a kid-teenager now!!

As am I-going for one of these...

Not many kids seemed to be wearing them last year, I was hoping it would be made compulsory

I was trying to think of an appropriate video to make him want to wear a helmet...

The effectiveness of them is debatable but if you get a "cool" helmet he'll wear it if you threaten to take skiing away unless he does...

Seriously though a lot of cool kids wear helmets.

Reckon that video would do the trick to be perfectly honest with you...

Just bought myself a helmet for this season after a fall last year shook me up. You can more often than not recover from a broken bone or a torn muscle. Not so easy to recover from a smashed skull. There's plenty of lids around that look good and once you get into resort and see how many others are wearing them you don't feel so out of place.

I've just done the same, getjim. I had a nasty collision a while back and it made me think more about self-preservation although it was my gf who really persuaded me to buy it. Although I like the look of the thing (white, with a broad black band over the top - Dainese) I'm unsure as to how long it will take me to get used to wearing it, having skiid for so long without one.
