WELL DONE? What a ridiculous statement to make.
Congratulating someone for making a decision not to wear a helmet is irresponsible.
Its fine to ask why they made that choice and also to respect that choice but not to applaud them. Silly man.

Idkwia, you have committed the cardinal j2ski sin of having an opinion which differs from the mainstream 'gang'.
I don't wear a helmet as I like to be aware of my surroundings. Helmets give average skiers an inflated sense of ability and invincibility. I like to be able to hear them coming.

Ahhh Snapzzz,

I have to admit you were not top of the list to ridicule my post, but you were up there. Congratulations, and thank you for reinforcing my point!

Brucie, I have to agree with you. Being one with an often different opinion of point of view, I am used to the usual responses, usually from the usual people.

And I also agree that people sometimes DO think they can ski better or faster or without fear when wearing a helmet, in fact one post on this thread pretty much admits as much.

However, as you may be aware, someone as pro-non-helmet as myself has this season started to wear a helmet. Mainly because of seeing the effects damage can do, but also massively because of peer group pressure. I do still like to have the choice though, and last week wore my helmet for 3 out of 6 days skiing. I did not use it because it made me feel particularly hot and sweaty on sunny warm days.
I do find its big advantage is somewhere to put the GoPro though.

I think it is pretty obvious that I was laughing at Ian saying he was brain dead as well as congratulating him on his self mockery.
Why that is a ridiculous statement and why it makes me a silly man beggars belief.

Yes Brucie I have come to realise that! The strange thing is I was merely asking why other non helmet wearers had made their decision and suddenly all helmet wearers jump in!

Im sorry Brucie if you took it as ridicule, that wasn't my intention.

I merely wanted to disagree with your points, mainly that skiers feel some level of invincability whilst wearing helmets.
Wearing a lid has done nothing to make me feel that i am a better skier or given me the confidence to take greater risks, i think your statement is just another one of those over used untruths that the anti helmet brigade reel out time after time. Another is spacial awareness which IMHO is total rubbish too.
